      The Deposicon of THOMAS HALE aged 50 yeares or thereabouts sworne & examined the 17th of January 1651/2 saith that HUGH FOUCH delivered to a Duchman for the use of Mr. HAWKINS that kept ye STORE at Mr. MOTTROMs House, twelve Deere Skins for wch : the said HAWKINS give & delivered his Bill to HUGH FOUCH to pay & him the said FOUCH twelve paire of shooes this present cropp and the said shooes were to be of the fire of the eleven & the twelveth, Also JAMES MacGREGERY delivered to the aforesaid Duchman for the use of Mr. HAWKINS. three Rackoone Skins for the wch: he were to give the said JAMES one good Knife, and Further sait.h not

      THOMAS HAILES aged 26 yeares or thereabouts being svorne & examined saith that since JOHN GRESHAM receaved a Cow with her increase of THO: COGGIN wch: were in the possession of Mr. NICHO: MORRIS & demanding them of Mr. MORRIS the said Mr, MORRIS said he should have none there, then JOHN GRESHAM shewed him by what Ordr: & Warrant he demanded them; the said MORRIS said he would disprove some part of the Juries verdict; he said the Cattle were all alive then. And further this Depont saith not

      Thomas Hayles his deposition.
      Thomas Hayles aged 50 years or there abouts sworn
      and examined saith, that upwards of 7 years since this
      depondent caused 100 acres of land to be surveyed at
      Yeocomoco for Phillip Silvester which said land Mr.
      Nicholas Jernew now liveth upon and-at the survey of the
      said land this depondent with Wm. Cooke surveyed at the
      beginning of the first survey thereof, they run there mile
      from the water side their length into the woods and so took
      the breadth of the said. 100 acres at the head coming down
      with the other side line towards Patomack River again the
      said Wm. Corke found himself in an error by reason of the
      rivers winding fell short of the breadth by the waters side
      some 20 acres or there abouts the said Corke being much
      vexed there at said that when he should go to survey the
      land on that side next adjoining, for Wm. Reynolds that he
      would leave as much between the said lands before he
      began as should make that good which was wanting by the
      water side and further this depondent saith not.

      To all etc. whereas etc. now know you that the said Sr.
      William Berkeley etc. give and grant unto Thomas Hayles
      three hundred acres of land situated in Northumberland
      County upon the Southside of Potomacke River beginning
      at the southside of a small creek near the mouth of the
      Potomacke River [---] to Balles Neck and on land along
      the main water course South Southwest to the mouth of
      another creek [---] this line to the land of George Knott
      North Northeast upon the land of Edward Walker and John
      P-] East and Southeast The said land being deeded unto
      the said [---] by and for the transportation of persons into
      this colony all whose names are in the records mentioned
      under this pattent dated the 15th of September 1651

      Thomas Hayles his assignment of a pattentto Robert Lord
      Know all men by these presents that I Thomas Hayles
      for and in consideration ofa sum of tobacco received do sell
      and make over all my right title and interest to this pattent
      above mentioned unto Robert Lord his heirs and assignees
      for ever In [----] I have hereunto set my hand the 20th July 1654.

      Richard Bennett Esq. etc. give and grant unto William
      Bedlam seventy acres of land situated in the County of
      Northumberland commonly called by the name of
      Yeocomoco Point bounded on the South and Southwest a
      creek which divideth this land and the land of Thomas
      Hayles, West and Northwest upon the land of Edward
      Walker North and Northeast upon or against Potomacke
      River East and Southeast upon Yeocomoco River the said
      land being due unto the said Wm. Bedlam by and for the
      transportation of two persons into this colony both whose
      names are in records mentioned under this pattent dated the
      29th of November 1652.
