    • === Research Notes by Pamela Pearson

You might want to take a look at NH Co Wills, Deeds, Etc., 1711-1718, XXI-R: 16: Thomas Johnson and wife Mary, and Jonathan Rowlan (sic) and wife Ann of Accomack Co to Richard Rodgers of Accomack Co. They sold Rodgers 150 a. on the bayside. I abstracted this and don't have a copy, but my notes indicate the land belonged to "Thomas Marshall late of Northampton County, whose daughters were Mary and Ann." This fits the description of the land Thomas Marshall left his two granddaughters in 1704. Some of these deeds are hard to read, so it may have said "granddaughters." Maybe Mary married Richard Rodgers after Thomas Johnson died?

He married Cecill (Moore). Cecill was the daughter of Thomas Moore. That Cecil was the daughter of Thomas Moore is unknown. Thomas Moore was the only person having a daughter named Cecil of the right time period. (research of James H. Marshall)

He made a will in Northampton County, Virginia, February 20, 1687. Thomas was baptized April 28, 1661, Hungars Parish. (James H. Marshall, Wills & Administrations of Northampton Co. VA, p. 67) Probate of his estate was February 28, 1687. (James H. Marshall, Wills & Administrations of Northampton Co. VA, p. 131)

Thomas Marshall and Cecill (Moore) had the following children:

      i. Mary Marshall. Properties left to Mary and her sister, Ann, eventually came into the possession of Mary. Whitelaw suspects that Anne did not live. (Ralph Whitelaw, Virginia Eastern Shore, p. 522) (Descendants of Mary Marshall researched by Bill Wilkins)

ii. Anne Marshall was born 1688. Anne died after 1704. Ann's sister, Mary, came to inherit the land left to Anne by her grandfather. (Ralph Whitelaw, Virginia Eastern Shore, p. 522)
