      Will of Francis (Gowre) Gower. The following reference to his will is of record in Order Book 1686-1692, page 349, 2 March, 1691: "Whereas a Nuncupative will of francis Gowre of this County late decd. was duly proved in this Court whereby Stanley Gowre his brother is appointed Exor. ordered by the Court to take into his possession the Estate as also that he take under his care & tuition the children of the Said Francis."

      CLARK, HENRY, 18 April, 1678; 28 January, 1678/9.
      To son John my bay mare with what increase she shall have after my decease.
      To son-in-law Francis Gore {sic Gower} one man servant which shall then have his full time to serve in this country to be bought with part of my estate by my Executrix and delivered to him.
      To daughter Elizabeth wife of Argell Jacobus and the heirs of her body lawfully to be begotten 200 acres of land next adjoining to the land of Mr William Fauntleroy at the South West part of that devident of Land where I now live and for want of such issue to my son John and his heires and all my other Lands and hereditaments whatsoever provided that Joane my wife shall enjoy the housing and plantation I now dwell on during her natural life. All the rest of my Estate not before bequeathed I give to my said loving wife Joane whom I make Executrix of this my will.

      26 Apr 1690. This shall oblige FRANCIS GOARE (GOWRE) of Rappa Co to ackn a 100 a. tr of land unto JAMES ORCHARD when required also the said GOARE do oblige myself to make over unto the said ORCHARD a fum deed of sale of the land having received obligation for full satisfaction for the same and to ackn the same in Rapp Co court if the tr of land hold out the quantitie menconed in the draught. STANLEY GOWER and SARAH my wife of N Farnham Parish Richmond Co for a valuable consideration hold ourselves fully satisfied , and contented by the penal sum of 12,000 pounds of tobb sold unto PETER KIPPAX CLARKE of same place ... a 350 a. tr of land in the forrest betweene Totuskey and Rappa Cr upon the maine road pt/o the land and plantation formerly in the tenure of HENRY CLARKE decd which land was divided per consent and good liking of ANGELL JACOBUS & my father FRANCIS GOWER decd.       8 March, 1682 ; CLARKE, JOAN,* 3 May, 1683.
      To my two daughters Anne Gower and Elizabeth Jacobus all my wearing apparel to be equally divided between them.

      To Stanley Gower the son of Francis and Anne Gower one cow with all her increase forever to be delivered to the said Stanley the next Spring shall be Twelve month after my decease.

      To Elizabeth Jacobus daughter of Angell Jacobus and Elizabeth that feather bed I generally used to lye upon with the bolster Rugg and two feather pillows. Also to the said daughter of Angell Jacobus one cow with all her increase for ever to be delivered the next Spring shall be twelve month after my decease. To son John Clarke all my other estate (except what is above specified) as household stuff and all other Hereditamt and all other personall Estate as slaves cattle hoggs and a horse called Button And everything else I do possess with whether debts or otherways only what I above give to my daughters and their children excepted. It is my will that my son John remove nothing from the Plantation I now live on till he comes to the age of one and twenty. I also give to my son John a Certain Tract of Land that belongeth to me of seven hundred ninety and two and one halfe (79254) acres that lyeth up-wards upon Rappeh River and nigh unto one William Sargent to him my said son and his heirs forever but if my said son should die without issue then the said tract of land to be divided between the heirs of the bodies of my two daughters Anne Gower and Elizabeth Jacobus. Appoints her son John Clarke her sole Executor. To Francis Gower son of Francis and Anne Gower one cow to be delivered the next Spring Come twelve month after my decease the weh Cow I give with its increase for Ever. This Cow is to be excepted from those Cattle I give my son John as well as the other two I gave my Grandchildren Stanley Gower and Elizabeth Jacobus. I desire my trusty and welbeloved ffriend Coil John Stone of Rapp8c County to guide and direct and counsel my son John Clarke till he Comes to ye age of one and twenty.
