      Charles County Land Record Book O#3, 1765-1770; Page 82. Aug 1, 1766 from James Gilpin of CC, planter, to Thomas Contee of CC, for 125 and for divers other good causes, a tract of land in CC called Tomsonton, bounded by the road that leads to Portobacco, the head of a Marshy Branch, a parcel of land now in the possession of Walter Hanson, it being part of the afd tract of land called Tomsonton, and formerly laid out for 100 acres out of sd tract, thence to sd Walter Hanson's land, containing about 170 acres. Signed - James (G his mark) Gilpin. Wit - Jno winter*, Robt Horner*. Recorded Aug 2, 1766.

I, James Gilpin of CC, for 69 18 shillings and 3 pence, have sold to John Hanson Jr, a Negro man named Tom, a Negro woman called Siss, and 3 Negro children of sd Siss, to wit, Dick, Hen, & Frank. If, however, I pay to sd Hanson the afd sum, that is to say, one half thereof by next Jun 1, and the other half by Jun 1, 1768, with legal interest from today, then this mortgage becomes void.
