I, Margaret Marshall of CC, being in perfect health and of sound mind, memory and understanding;
To grand niece Rebecca Marshall, the daughter of Doctor William Clagett and Elizabeth H. Clagett, Elizabeth H. Hardesty that was, the sum of 200 dollars to be expended on her education.
To grand niece, daughter of Dr. William Clagett and Elizabeth H. Clagett, 200 dollars to be expended on her education.
To grand niece Eleanor D. Hardesty, daughter of John H. Hardesty my nephew, 200 dollars to be expended on her education.
To friend and relative Thomas D. Claggett, 100 dollars to purchase mouning {suits} for himself and wife.
To grandson Thomas Marshall, son of Thomas H. Marshall and Eleanor H.H. Marshall, 100 dollars to purchase a watch.

At the request of Thomas Marshall the following Marriage Contract was recorded December 29, 1807
This Indenture Tripartite made October 19, 1807; between Thomas Marshall (of Marshall Hall) of the first part, Margaret Marshall of the second part and James Fenwick of the third part. Whereas a marriage is agreed upon and intended to be shortly had and solemnized between Thomas Marshall and Margaret Marshall and upon the treaty of the said marriage it was agreed that Thomas Marshall should grant and convey all and singular the lands tenements negroes and other property herein after expressed and mentioned to the uses up on the trusts for the intents and purposes and subject to the powers provisions declarations and agreements hereafter expressed. Now this Indenture witnesseth that in pursuance and part performance of the said agreement and in consideration of said intended marriage and for conveying the lands and tenements and personal property in trust and in consideration of $5 current money of the United States paid by James Fenwick to Thomas Marshall and for other good causes and valuable consideration the said Thomas Marshall hereunto moving has sold unto James Fenwick all the lands tenements and hereditaments lying in William and Mary Parish which is now seized and hath right and title in trust for the uses herein after mentioned, to the use of Thomas Marshall until the intended marriage shall be solemnized and after then to the use of Thomas Marshall during his natural life and after his death to Margaret Marshall during her natural life if she shall survive him and after her death to the use of the heirs of Thomas Marshall. Further, in case Margaret Marshall shall survive Thomas Marshall he shall by his last will devise that the dwelling and other houses now standing be well and sufficiently repaired for the use and accommodation of Margaret Marshall and the use of all necessary and proper household goods furniture, china to the value of $300 current money of the United States, Also as many sound healthy and valuable laboring negroes and horses, the number of negroes not to exceed seven as may be sufficient to cultivate the lands and premises herein before granted and the number of house negroes not to exceed four in number as may be necessary to perform the domestic services, and a sufficient number of black cattle and hogs to stock said lands, Also a good decent and proper pleasure carriage and a pair of god and proper coach horses. And for the further and better securing the performance and observance of all and every the covenants clauses and agreements herein before mentioned Thomas Marshall doth bind himself unto James Fenwick in the sum of 5,000 pounds current money of Maryland.
