Feb 28, 1778 from Samuel Snowden and John Snowden, sons of Richard Snowden Sr and Thomas Snowden, grandson of the sd Richard, of Anne Arundel County, Gentlemen, to William Holmes of sd County, Gentleman. Whereas the sd Richard Snowden Sr, by his will dated about Jan 5, 1763, empowered his 3 sons, Thomas Snowden, Samuel Snowden, and John Snowden, to convey all lands sold by him on receipt of the money due for the same, in as ample a manner as if done by himself, and whereas sd Richard Snowden, some time before his death, sold 100 acres of land, being part of a tract of land called Bear Bacon, lying in Frederick now M, for 60 E, but no conveyance was executed for the same by sd Richard Snowden Sr, and which sd money sd William Holmes has paid to sd Samuel Snowden, John Snowden, and Thomas Snowden, since the death of the sd Richard, agreeable to the direction of the will of the deceased, and whereas Thomas Snowden, son of Richard, one of the persons appointed by the will of the sd Richard Snowden to execute conveyances, is also deceased, leaving Thomas Snowden, his only son, who is appointed guardian to Mary Snowden (a minor), heir at law to Thomas Snowden decd, who, on behalf of as guardian to Mary Snowden, has agreed to execute these presents, now this deed witnesses that the sd Samuel Snowden, John Snowden, and Thomas Snowden, for sd 60 £, and for the further sum of 5 shillings sterling to them in hand paid by sd Holmes, have granted to sd Holmes, part of a tract of land called Bear Bacon, situated in M, bounded by the part of Bear Bacon which was heretofore sold by William Masterson to Isaac Downs, part of Bear Bacon which was heretofore sold by Richard Richardson to Isaac Downes, containing and now laid out for about 100 acres. Signed - Sam Snowden, John Snowden, Thos. Snowden. Wit - Thos. Macgill, Jas. Beck. This deed was ack. by all three grantors in Anne Arundel County before Thos. Macgill and Jas. Beck. John Read Magruder, Clk, Prince George's County, certified that Thomas Macgill and James Beck, Gentlemen, are JPs for sd County. Recorded Apr 13, 1778.
