21 June 1765. Garfield Brown of Culpeper County to Messrs. Lenox and Scott & Company, merchants and partners. Mortgage to secure £70.2.4 current money. 200 acres whereon Brown now lives, lying upon the river within two miles of Germanna and adjoining the line of John Price. Also fourteen head of cattle marked with a swallow fork and underkeel in the left and overkeel in the right ear: also twenty five hogs and eleven sheep of the same mark; also one sorrel horse with a blaze face and branded R on the near buttock, one bay mare colt, the mare branded PP on the near buttock.

By the said writing Garfield Brown hath conveyed the absolute estate of the tract of land in which he is not entitled to more than a lease for the life of Garfield Brown. It is hereby explained that Garfield Brown conveys his interest.
