      KNOW ALL MEN by these presents that I JOSEPH BECKLEY of Cittenburne Parish in Rappa: County, Carpentr., do ow and stand indebted unto JOSIAS SHIP of the sd County and Parish, Plantr., the full sum of Six thousand pounds of good sound Mercht: Tobb: and caske to be pd. unto the sd JOSIAS SHIP his heirs at or upon the Tenth day of October next ensuing the date hereof at some convenient place in the sd County of Rappa: and Parish of Cittingbourne aforesaid to the true payment unto sd JOSIAS SHIP his heires I binde myselfe my heires and in Witness whereof I hereunto sett my hand and seale this Nineteenth day of November 1687
      The Condicon of this obligation is such that if the abovesd JOSEPH BECKLEY his heires shall legally make over unto the sd JOSIAS SHIP his heires a certain parcell of land bounded upon the line of WM. Jett, North East conteyning One hundred acers bounding upon the land of the said JOSEPH where he now lives due East, I say if the sd JOSEPH BECKLEY give unto the sd JOSIAS SHIP a sufficient assurance of the sd premised land and acknowledge it in Court at the reasonable request of the sd JOSIAS SHIP that then this obligation to be voide and of no effect, otherwise to stand in full force and virtue As Witness my and and scale this day and yeare first above written

      THIS INDENTURE or Deed of Sale made the 30th of March Ano: Dorn. 1692 Between JOSEPH BECKLEY of RAPPA: County & Parish of SITTENBOURNE of the one party and JOSIAS SHIP of the same County & Parish of the other party. Sheweth that JOSEPH BECKLEY abovesd. for and in consideration of Three thousand pounds of good sound Tobacco in Cask sell unto the abovesd. JOSIAS SHIP his heirs or assigner forever a certain tract or parcel' of land contains One hundred acres bounding upon the land following vizt,, Beginning at a small white Oak that stands in the head of a small branch that falls into BLAGGS BEAVER DAM SWAMP, from thence North East along the line of WILLIAM JETT, then from the abovesd. Oak East North East along the old line of JOSEPH BECKLEY and there to take his Hundred acres together with all & singular its right woods profits &whatsoever appertaining or in any wise belonging; To have & to hold the said parcel' of land unto the abovesd. JOSIAS SHIP his heirs & assigns forever without the hindrance of the said JOSEPH BECKLEY his heirs and the said JOSEPH BECKLEY firmly obtidges himself to make acknowledgement in the County Court of RAPPA: himself or otherwise by his lawfull Attorney and likewise his Wife, MARY, shall make acknowledgement of her thirds in the County Court of RAPPA: County or by her lawfull Attorney when thereunto requested by the sd. JOSIA SHIP. In Confirmation of the abovesd. articles, the abovesd. JOSEPH BECKLEY hath hereunto sett his hand & affixed his seale the day & year above mentioned

      KNOW ALL MEN by these presents that I JOSEPH BECKLEY and MARY my Wife do truly authorise and appoint our Friend, SAMLL: BOWEN of RAPPA: County to be our lawfull Attorney to make an acknowledgement in the County Court of RAPPA: of One hundred acres of land sold unto JOSIAS SHIP of this County as appears by an Indenture or Deed of Sale bearing date the 30th of March 1692, giving my sd Attorney full power on both our behalfs to make this acknowledgm: warranting the same to be good & authentic in Law against us our heirs or assigns And to be as good in Law as if we both of us had been present in Court to make this acknowledgement In Confirmacon we have both hereunto set our hands & affixed our seales the day & year abovesd.
