      KNOW ALL MEN by these prsents that I JOHN LIGHTFOOT of the Pish of PISCATAWAY in the County of Rappa: in Virginia Gent. for a competent Subsistance & Mayntaynance and Joynt or dower for ANN my now Wife one of the Daughters of THO: GOODRIDGE deced, in case she shall happen to Survive me have given and sold unto PHILLIP LIGHTFOOT of the Pish of PETSO in County of GLOCESTER one Negro woman named Fuller with two of her Children called Robert and Mathew, one Negro boy called Tom, one Mulattay girle named BETTEY WATS, twelve head of Cattle, three Mares formerly belonging to the said Coll. GOODRICH, one feather bed, bowlster, pillow and one paire of sheets, one paire of blanketts, one rugg, one suite of flowered damask curtaines, Vallans, Counterpaine & Testar All which Negroes, Mares & Cattle and houshold stuffe were the goods and Estate of my said Wife before or: Intermarriage and bequeathed to her my said Wife by the Coll: her Father for her portion To have and to hold to the said PHILLIP his Executors and assignes forever In Trust nevertheless and to the Intent and purpose for the use and advantage of my said Wife during my naturall life if she shall soe long live and from and after my decease to use of my said Wife if she shall then happen to be living, her Exexts. and assignes forever; But in case my said Wife shall happen to depart this life before me then to the use and behoofe of me the said JOHN LIGHTFOOT and my heires forever; Provided alwaies Nevertheless and it is my intent in these presents that it may be lawfull for the said JOHN at any time during my naturall life to sell alter or chang kill or otherwise dispose of any of the male Cattle thereto granted or that shall proceed from then or any of them shall attaine the age of tenn yeares and alsoe of any of the female after they or any of them obtayne ye age of 14 yeares or be otherwise unfitt to keep any longer I the said JOHN leaving keeping and preserving the full number of Mares and cattle hereby granted.       ARTICLES of AGREEMENT made & agreed upon between JOSEPH GOODRICH of ye County of RAPPA: Gent. of ye one pte: and JOHN LIGHTFOOT of ye sd. County, Gent of ye other part this 15th day of 9ber: 1681
      Imp. That whereas there was by the Will and Testamt. of Coll. THO: GOODRICH late of ye abovesd. County deced. a Dividend of Land containeing Eighteen hundred acres given unto the sd. JOSEPH GOODRICH and ANNE GOODRICH, Sister to ye sd JOSEPH, and now the Wife of ye above named JOHN LIGHTFOOTE, to be equally divided between the sd JOSEPH and ANNE upon the Marriage of the sd. ANNE. It is by this present Covenant and agreed upon by and between the said JOSEPH GOODRICH and the sd. JOHN LIGHTFOOT, now the Husband of ye sd. ANNE; that the sd. JOHN LIGHTFOOTE shall imediately or at his pleasure seat and make as a Plantacon upon the sd Dividend on the South side of a Branch commonly called or knowne by the name of the WESTERN BRANCH of ye old INDIAN TOWNE, without the hinderance or molestation of ye sd JOSEPH GOODRICH or any person under him and shall freely posses and enjoy the same for ever

It is likewise concluded and agreed upon between the said parties that ye abovesd. menconed WESTERN BRANCH shall be a perpetual bounds & division between them and their heirs for ever, Provided alwayes that if at any time hereafter both the parties or either of them shall by a Survey measure or lay out their just share or part of the abovesd. Eighteen hundred acres of Land and find that it cannot be found without goeing over the bounds of the abovesd. WESTERN BRANCH, that then it shall be lawful! for them or either of them to goe over to make out his just share of 9 hundred acres; Provided that they prejudice not either of their Plantacons anything herein contained to contrary hereof in any wise notwithstanding;
      To the true and faithful! performance whereof and of every article & agreemt. herein contained both the sd. parties doe for themselves their heirs and Executrs: oblige themselves each unto other, in the summe of Five hundred pounds Sterling by virtue of these presents. In Witness whereof both the sd. parties have hereunto set their hands and seales the day and year first above written

      Lease and Release. 9 and 10 Dec 1703. Benj Goodrich of James City Co., Gent., sells Wm Aylet of King William Co., for £84, 900 acres in Essex, whioh is 1/2 of 1800 acres granted to Lt Coll Thomas Goodrich the 15 Oct 1669, who by will dated 15 March-1678/9 devised it to his son Joseph Goodrich who after possessing it some time died and left it by will to his son Danby Goodrich, who dieing in his minority, the land came by inheritance to said Benj Goodrich. The land bound according to a division made 15 Nov 1681 concluded betw Joseph Goodrich, in his lifetime, and John Lightfoot gent who married Ann Goodrich sister to said Joseph. The land was bequeathed by said Lt Coll Thomas Goodrich except 100 acres sold to Jno Fergeson and 100 acres sold by Joseph Goodrich in his life time to Thos. Wood.
