Thomas Keene his will
In the name of God Amen know all men that I Thomas Keene being fresh of memory doth as followeth First I
bequeath my soul to God that giveth it after my body to the earth and in as followeth
First I give and bequeath to my son Thomas a cow named Duke,
next to my daughter Susana one heifer called by the name of [Sa------],
next I give my son William one heifer named Gentle,
next I give to my son Matthew the next cow calf that falleth of the old cows
Mathew Rhodon dueth for a hoghead and 18 pounds since last year 293
Mr. Lee oweth me of [-----] this year for six hogheads and a pail
Richard Walker paid Mr. Wilford for myself
For hooping two pails for Mr. Wilford

Know all men that I give unto my wife Mary Keene for the bringing up my children all my moveable goods and hogs and cattle but what I have given to my children and the remainder of my tobacco when my debts as paid is to my wife, also I give this land and plantation to my wife during her life after her decease I give the said land to my son Thomas and his heirs forever. Overseer of the estate Henry Mosely, John Stanly, Thomas Orlye, Matthew Rhodon.

Whereas MARY RAYNER the Wife & Relict of HENRY RAYNER, deced., hath acknowledged the Assignemt. of the one halfe of a Pattent of 240 acres of Land & the houseing upon ye Land menconed in the said Pattent, unto WM. HOPKINS as by Endorsemt. or Assignemt. in the back side of the sd. Pau: from under the hand of the sd. HENRY RAYNER hearing date the 21th of December 1655 at large may and doth appeare; NOW KNOWE all men by these pr:sents yt: I the sd. WM. HOPKINS doe oblige my selfe that if in case I am determined to make sale of my part of the sd. Land & Houseing that then the sd MARY RAYNER shall have the first refusall thereof & the value of One hoggsd. of tobco. abated her in the price of what another will give; & in case of the death of the sd. MARY RAYNER the same to be granted & allowed to her heire or heires; Witnes my hand this 22th of March 1655; More I doe acknowledge to be properly the dwelling house of Five & twenty Foote due to MARY RAYNER her heires &c.

These presents are to testifie to all whom it may concerne that I MARY RAYNER Widow, being of a mind to match my self to Mr. THOMAS BROUGHTON in the Honble: Estate of Marryage for several consideracons moveing mee thereto have resolved to preserve the property & power of all my Estate moveable or unmoveable unto my own possession to sell alienate or dispose of it at my pleasure & as I shall thinke gud, the wch: condicon the sd. Mr, BROUGHTON doth by these p:sents yeild & consent unto; & doth agree & consent to & wth: the sd. MARY RAYNER to have these p:sents recorded in the Bookes of the Court; As Witnes our hands this 22th of March 1658

before me, FREDERICK IXEM, Notary &Tabellion Publick, admitted & sworne dwelling in this Citty of LONDON, in the presence of the Wittnesses after named, personally appeared NICHOLAS HEYWARD of LONDON, Merchant, unto me Notary well knowne and hath made & in his place doth put NICHOLAS SPENCER of LONDON aforesd., Merchant. and Capt. SAMUELL TILGHMAN, Commander of the Ship called the " GOLDEN FORTUNE" now bound for Virginia, jointly and eyther of them severally his true & lawful!
