We, John Jamieson, John Willson, James Mitchell, William Smith, Walter Scot, and John Rowand, all merchants in Glasgow, Scotland, and owners of the ship the Ann Galley of Glasgow, for some years past we have been and still are jointly concerned in carrying on trade in Virginia and Maryland, in the management of which, James Scot from Glasgow, now deceased, was our factor, and was succeeded by Robert Whythill from Glasgow and now of Maryland. We place all our confidence in Mr. Walter Hanson, Deputy Commissary of cc and residing near Portobacco, Maryland. Therefore -know that we have appointed Walter Hanson our true and lawful attorney, to recover from sd Robert Whythill and from Walter Scot, now of Maryland, heir and executor of sd deceased James Scot, all books of accounts wherein the transactions of the company's business were kept.
