      To all etc. whereas etc. now know you that I the said
      Sr. William Berkeley [---] give and grant unto John
      Trussell four hundred acres of land lying on the South side
      of Chickocoan River and beginning at a small creek that
      [----] the land of Mr. John [---] land and runs West South
      West 100 poles [--] and unto another creek and there up
      the said creek and paraell to the said creek South South East
      32 poles and then East North East 200 poles unto the said
      Mottroms land and there North North West parreall to the
      said [ oj 320 poles [--] the place where it began, the
      said land being due unto the said John Trussell by and for
      the transportation of eight persons into.the colony all there
      names are in records [----] this pattent. dated the 14th of
      October 1649.

      assign and put over forever unto Jacob Cuttanceah his heirs,
      extrs, admtrs or assignees all my right title and interest of
      the pattent within mentioned warrenting the same to him
      against any person or persons what so ever, witness my
      handthe day and year above written,

      20th August 1655~this assignment was acknowledged in
      court unto Jacob Cuttanceah by me John Trussel and is
      recorded.

      To all etc. whereas etc. now know you that I the said
      Sr. William Berkeley etc. give and grant unto John Trussell
      Gent. two hundred acres of land situated lying and being in
      the County of Northumberland [-----] [-----] upon
      Chickocoan River North West upon a creek that [-----] this
      land from the land of the said John Trussell granted by a
      former pattent South East and South West upon the main
      woods, the said two hundred acres of land being due unto
      him the said John Trussell by and for the transportation of
      four persons into this colony whose names are in the records
      mentioned under this pattent, dated the 7th day of March
      1650.

      Mr. Trussell his receipt and agreement with Mr. Jacob Cotansean
      To all people to whom this presents shall come know
      you that [----] John Trussell do acknowledge to have
      received full payment of Mr. Jacob Cotansean to say six
      thousand pounds of tobacco in goods it being for and in
      and plantation and all bearing fruit trees thereon growing
      that is and layeth in Chickaroan River in the County of
      Northumberland in Virginia and further I John Trussell do
      openly at all demands to assign and surrender all my right
      title and interest in the court which shall be held in
      Chickaroan unto Jacob Cotansean his heirs or assignees and
      what bargain or bargains hath formerly been made now by
      condition now in the custody and keeping of Mr. Wm.
      Presly Sen'r to be void and of non effect to the truth I have
      put to my hand this first of March 1651 the which tobacco is
      in full satisfaction for the said land.

      To all etc. whereas etc. now know you that I the said Sr. William Berkeley Knt. etc. give and grant unto John Trussell [-----] hundred acres of land situated in Northumberland County upon the Northwest side of Chickacoan River opposite [---] another tract of land of the said Mr. Trussell and extending from the mouth of a small creek called, "Peatch Creek" [-----] South and by West along Chickacoan River to a marked [-----] standing on the head of a branch of the said river West by North into the main woods West and by South North by West one hundred and fifty pole and East and by North to [-----] place where it began the land being due unto the said John Trussell by and for the transportation of six persons into this colony all whose names are in records mentioned [-----] this pattent to have and to hold the said land etc. dated the 6th of September 1651.

      The Jurys verdict on Mr. Budds Servant Thomas Winn.
      Whereas at a court holden for this County of
      Northumberland the 22nd day of November 1655 The
      verdict of the Jury and judgement did award and decree that
      whereas Mrs. Eleanor Budd was accused for the death of
      one Thomas Winn her late Servant, that the said Winn
      should be taken up out of the earth and viewed by a Jury of
      12 men a Coronor and one Chyourgion or more and that the
      said Mrs. Budd should touch and handle the said corpes and
      that the skull of the said Winn should be especially viewed.
      These may therefore certify all those whom it may seem to
      concern and be relative unto that we whose names are under
      subscribed being for that purpose empaneled on a Jury
      together With Lt. Col. John Trussell Coronor and Mr.
      Robert Burrell Chyourgion have accordingly cleaned and
      viewed the said skull and see the said Mrs. Budd handle the
      same and did not perceive any symptoms or example by
      which God of his just judgement maybe evidence, her the
      said Mrs. Ellenor Budd any whit guilty of the said
      accusation the said skull being as (we suppose) the skull of
      any dead man is which death by no casual but a natural
      death dated the first day of January 1655. The body of the
      said Winn could not possibly be taken up being quite
      consumed, the bones excepted.

      TO ALL CHRISTIAN PEOPLE to & before whome this writing shall come. Know yee that I JOHN TRUSSELL of the County of Northumberland in Virginia doe bargaine sell & deliver & by these pr:sents have bargained sold and delivered unto JAMES CLAUGHTON of the same County & to his heires Executors & Administrators a certaine quantity of Land out of and from the Devident of Foyer hundred ninety & six acres that my Pattent now belongeth to me, JOHN TRUSSELL, wch: said tract of land soe sold and delivered begineth at a marke called the WHITE MARSH at a tree three marked with twelve noches being three noches of every side & runneth from the said noched tree soe marked up a straite lyne to the KINGS CREEKE, South Southwest selling to him the said CLAUGHTON all and every part & parcel' that to me belongeth from the bounds & marked trees before menconed upwards towards the said KINGS CREEKE had ( ) said tract of land soe sold as aforesaid to him the said JAMES CLAUGHTON, he the said CLAUGHTON nor none after him for ever that doth live upon or possess the said land shall have any claime any title or intrest to any land that belongeth to him the said JOHN TRUSSELL on the North North East side of the aforesaid WHITE MARSH, And he the said JAMES CLAUGHTON his heires Executors and Administrators shall hold & quietly enjoy the aforesaid tract of land be it one hundred acres more or less without any let hinderance molestacon or trouble of me the said JOHN TRUSSELL my heires Executors Administrators or assignes or any other pson or p:sons whatsoever alwayes provided that he the said JAMES CLAUGHTON his heires Executors or Administrators shall or any other p.son or p:sons whatsoever that live upon the said tract of land from this pr:sent & thereafter for ever shall yearely pay or cause to be paid to him the said JOHN TRUSSEL or to his heires Executors Administrators or assignes all such Rent or Rents thatfrom these presents ever hereafter shalbe due & required for the said tract of land by him & to him or them that from time to time herafter shall have power to demand and receave the same, And to avoyd trouble & future cavillacon that my hereafter happen or arise concerning the Rent of the tract of land soe sold as aforesaid, the possessors of the said Land shall from this present and forever hereafter pay or cause to be paid to JOHN TRUSSELL or his heirs Executors Administrators or assignes Rent for One hundred acres of land be it one hundred acres more or less also I the said JOHN TRUSSELL doe warrant to him the said JAMES CLAUGHTON the said tract of land soe farr as it is warranted to me by my Pattent & no further, also he the said JOHN TRUSSELL doth hereby acknowledge to have had and receaved of him the said JAMES CLAUGHTON full paymt. & satisfaccon for the said tract of land soe sold; And unto the truth & p:formance of all here menconed on both sides this paper, I have hereunto put my hand & seale this 20th day of January Ano Dom 1652

      - Whereas Coll JNO: TRUSSELL, Executor of Mr. GEORGE HIGGINS, deced,, did purchase & buy of THOMAS HALES (nowe deced,), a Cowe and had a Bill of Sale signed & delivered for the same, but at pr:sent cannot finde it & supposeth it to be lost, wch: said Cowe was purchased for SAMLL LING, his use, and was to have bin delivered him in consideracon of a Cowe Calfe given him by the Will of the sd. Mr. HIGGINS, And whereas the Widdowe & Relict of the said HALES acknowledged & did affirme before this Cort: that her sd Husband confessed the said Sale, It is therefore ordered that the sd. Cowe wth what increase shee have had since the Sale aforesaid shall returne to the use of the sd Coll TRUSSELL, and that being the sd. SAMUELL LING is nowe deced., the sd.
