      John Cooke his will
      In the name of God Amen whereas I John Cooke living upon Appamattacks being in my perfect sense do make my last will and testament. I do in the first place bequeath my soul to God my body to the dust from whence it came. This my last will and testament after all my debts satisfied I do give and bequeath one cow calf unto Berra Ryall and the rest of my estate that is left unto my well beloved friend Mr. Nathaniel Pope. Thus leaving all the would I have hereunto set my hand and seal this sixth of August 1652.
      The mark of John Cooke signed sealed and delivered in the presence of Richard Nicoll, Abraham Jenrnan
      10th March 1652 this will above written was proved in court by the oath of Abraham Jenman and because no extr is named in the said will the court doth therefore grant a commission of administration of the deceaseds estate unto Mr. Nathaniel Pope principal legatecum testament and anno and etc.

      Imprs. 2 old sowes & nine hoggs, 4 shooes, one old crosscut saw, one small tennant saw, 2 handsaws, 4 wedges, boxes & old iron in them, a broadaxe & a narrow axe, 3 old augers & a Prow, one old dripping pan, one old pestle, 7 hangers, 2 old pare of potthooks & one old pare of tongs, 1 old spitt sheald, hooks, an old adds; one old Gun. 1 old pare of shooes & stockings; one old Bible & 5 old books, old bowles & skimer, one small old pott, one old chamber pott, 1 old brass kettle & little kettle & 1 small old iron kettle, one old pale, 1 old chare, 1 old table, 2 old sheets & 2 old shifts, 1 more old bed bolster & ruggs, one more old skins, I old blankets more, I pare of new shooes, 1/2 pound of thred, 3 gimlets & a line; old doubleing capp, Bill of CORBET PEDALLs & THO: RICE 28 armslength of Rhonoke, one Bill of FRANCIS GRAYEs, 1 whistle, more old hatt, one barrel! & an 1/2 of corne, 12 hens & 3 cocks, 1 old Cow bottailed. frying pan & a runlet, a Calfe, 7 ells of Lockram, powder & shott, 1 pyde calfe & 1 bull Calfe, 1 whipsaw, 7 old planes, an old halberd & arrame of canon; 1 old clothe, 1 old pare of hangers The total sume is 9619
