  • Notes
    • robert shown as son to George Marshall based on Mardis records. Mardis and Marshall's lived next door in King George. Robert must have gone to Frederick County, VA with the Berry's and went across the Potomac river to Maryland to enlist. 7 miles would have put him in Williamsport on the Potomac across from Berkeley County VA.

I have a NARA letter stating that Robert Marshall, at the age of 14, entered the Maryland State Army, in Hagerstown, Washington County, Maryland. He was in Captain Hines Company, Colonel Williams Sixth Maryland Regiment, fought in the Battles of Brandywine, Germantown, and Monmouth. He was discharged March 5, 1780. The place and names of his parents were not know or given. Need leads on his parents
