In the name of God, Amen, This 10th day of June 1779, I, Mary Marshall of Charles County, Maryland, Being in perfect health of body and of perfect senses, thanks be given unto God, thereore calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this my last will and Testament, that is to say principally and first of all, I give and recommend my soul unto the hands of God that give it and I recommend my body to the earth to be buried in a decent and Christian burial at the discretion of my Executors, nothing doubting but at the General Resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God and as touching such worldly estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this life, I give, devise, and propose of the same in the following manner and form:
Item: I give and bequeath to my well beloved daughter, Mary Scott during her natural life the plantation wheron I now live.
Item: I give and bequath to my well beloved son, William Marshall after his sister, Mary Scott's decease, the above mentioned plantation on which I now live and the heirs of his body lawfully begotten forever. I also give to my son, William, one nego named "John".
Item: I give and bequeath to my grandson, Richard Marshall, son of my son Richard Marshall, one negro woman and her youngest child.
Item: I give and bequeath to my son Robert Marshall, all the residue of my estate, to him and his heirs forever.
Lastly: I do hereby nominate, ordain, and appoint my son, Robert Marshall, to be my sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament and I do hereby utterly disallow, revode and disannul all and every forms, testaments, wills, legaceys, bequaths, and executors by me in anyways before named, willed or bequathed, satisfying and confirming this and no other to be my last will and testament, in witness whereof I have here unto set my hand and seal the day and year above written.
Signed, sealed, pronounced, and declared by the said Mary Marshall as her last will & testament in the prsence of James Cottrell, Hery Gody, Matthew (x) Gody.
