EDWARD PHILPOTT married Eleanor Hawkins. Eleanor had married the Rev. George Tubman in 1698, had two children by him and then discovered he already had a wife in England. In 1705, she married William Smallwood, who had three small children, but he died very soon after. Eleanor and EDWARD II had no children.

Admin. accts. of George Tubman, 11/26/1708 mentioned Col. James Smallwood whose son William Smallwood married Eleanor Philpott (the widow and now wife of Edward Philpott) admx. of the decased.
Eleanor Hawkins was married to Edward Philpott July 25, 1708 in Portobacco, Charles County, Maryland. Edward's first marriage was to Susannah Posey. Eleanor Hawkins first marriage was to Rev. George Tubman abt 1699. Tubman died before May 18, 1704. Eleanor married Capt Wm Smallwood bef Feb. 17, 1705. Cap't. William Smallwood's first wife was Elizabeth Bread. Smallwood made his will Feb. 17, 1705, (a short marriage) leaving to Eleanor Hawkins Tubman Smallwood, his wife, the estate which was hers at marriage. I am open to corrections on this. Ann
BAYNE- *Mary Louise Donnelly in her book "My Colonial Ancestors, Plus Others", says "Elinor Bayne was born around 1648 in Charles County, Maryland, the dau of Walter Bayne 2 and Elinor___. She married first Edward Philpott. Edward Philpot was the progenitor of those by this name found in Charles County, Maryland. No record was found for when Edw Philpott entered the Province of Md. Termed wheelwright, he was in Chas Co on 5/6/1659 when 100 acres of "Philpott" was surveyed for him. In 1666 he obtained 100 acres called Courts Palace from John Courts, adj his other tract Deed c: 54. Later both of these tracts were in possession of his son John Philpott. Edw Philpott was dec. by 3/20/1679 when his estate was appraised valued at 6,976 pounds of tobbaco (Inv 7a61)
Two of their daughters are known from the will of their single son John Philpott." *******THIS IS for the most part INCORRECT.******** Edw
Philpott was married to Bridgett unknown, had three children, Edw, Chas and Mary. Edw. Philpott, II, married Susannah Posey and had children. Edw II, married 2ndly Eleanor/Elinor Hawkins Tubman Smallwood. Edw. Philpott, II's son Charles Philpott married Elizabeth Barton Smoot.

There were no children by this short marriage. ****[From their uncle Hugh Teares's estate Charles Philpot and Edward Philpot, Jr were to rec. 100 ac in Chas Co if their mother and first cousin Elizabeth Teares died (Will 11:189)] **** Elinor Bayne married fourthly John Beale."
