      Walter Hanson Jr's Will.
      I, Walter Hanson Jr of CC, am very sick and weak of body but of sound and disposing mind and memory.
      To my brother Hoskins Hanson - my right in a tract of land called Harwood. Also, my hicking chair, and my young bay horse, my sorrel horse, my baogoot gun, and my saddle and bridle.
      To my brother William Hanson - my right to a tract of land called Friendship. Also 1 Negro boy called Jess, my gun, & half my wearing apparel.
      To my brother Samuel Hanson - 3 Negroes, to wit, Harry, Tarn and old Samb, half my wearing apparel, my violins, flecter(?) and the sec.(?) half of my stock of cattle, sheep, and hogs, my draught horses, and all my household furniture (except what is hereafter mentioned) and all my plantation utensils.
      To my sister Elizabeth Smoot - one half of my China, Stone, and Glass ware.
      To my sister Violetta Hanson - my best bed, best stoael & furniture & my small paintool(?) looking glass.
      "To my Elizabeth Hanson Muschett" - my Negro woman Mary and her son John, and half my stock of cattle & sheep. To my friend John Muse - half my chest of jainen(?) tools and my neese(?) gun.
      To my sister Elizabeth Smoot - the rest of my personal estate, after my just debts & funeral charges are paid. executor: my brother Hoskins Hanson.

      Probated on Nov 26, 1785 by the executor and by the oaths of witnesses Thompson and Muschett.
      Letters Testamentary were granted to the executor; his securities were William B. Smoot & Mungo Muschett.

      Walter Hanson Sr., May 1, 1794; December 1, 1794
      I, Walter Hanson of CC being far advanced in years and infirm of body but of sound and disposing mind and memory
      Item: whereas my trusty and sincere friend Mr. Henry Barnes did by virtue of a power of attorney from me resurvey and lay of{f} into different parcels my part of the mannor of Friendship and did by virtue of the same power sell and dispose of the same one part to George Edelin and another to John Ford and took their bonds for the payment of the purchase money part of which bond are still unpaid and whereas before I had granted my power of attorney to Mr. Barnes I sold to Benjamin Cawood part of the said Mannor and took his bond part of which bond remains also still unpaid now it is my will and desire and hereby empower Mr. Henry Barnes to take into his management the whole matter of these land affairs and grant sufficient deeds and conveyances to the said George Edelin, John Ford and Benjamin Cawood to all and every of them so soon as they severally pay in the purchase money or sooner if the judges it reasonable upon their giving such further security as he the said Mr. Barnes thinks necessary.
      Item: I give to my son Hoskins Hanson all my family and other pictures and all my wearing apparel and desire that neither of these articles should be appraised in my estate.
      Item: I give devise and bequeath to my son Samuel Hanson the plantation whereon he now lives being part of His Excellency's Gift and part of Mr. Daniel Jenifer's land I had in exchange for part of His Excellency's Gift it being all the land I have lying on the north side of the main road that leads from Portobacco towards Nanjemoy. I also give him a negroe girl called Teresia daughter of Nell.
      Item: I give to my son William Hanson one hundred acres of land I bought of William Middleton being part of Tompson Town and one hundred acres of land I bought of John Chandler adjoining or supposed to be adjoin to the afore mentioned land bought of William Middleton.
      Item: After my wife Elizabeth Hanson marriage contact with me is fully complied with and after all my debts are paid and after my friend Mr. Henry Barnes is fully satisfied for all the trouble and expense he has been at on my account then I give and bequeath all the remaining part of my personal estate to my son William Hanson.

      Codicil: Whereas by the marriage contract mentioned in the said will that the increase of the negroes brought by my wife was to return to her with the principal to prevent any disputes after my decease, I give and bequeath to my said wife Elizabeth Hanson all the increase the wrenches negroe Kate and negroe Sall now has and may hereafter have anything in the said will to the contrary notwithstanding and I further declare that if my son William should depart this life before me then and in that case my executor before mentioned make sole of the lands devised to my son Samuel Hanson.

      I, Michael Jenifer Stone do make this my last will and testament;
      To wife Mary H. Stone, all my lands and tenements, good and chattels rights and credits and in general all my property real personal and mixed as my trustee and guardian of my children.
      I hereby constitute and appoint my said wife executor and executrix of the land will and testament of my last brother Thomas Stone.

      Indenture made June 10, 1800; Samuel Hanson of Walter in consideration of 1,000 pounds current money paid by Sarah Douglass Penn, Richard Thompson Hanson and Catharine Hanson (children of Hoskins Hanson deceased) has sold one moiety or part of a tract of land called "Harwood" containing in the whole tract is a moiety 1,260 acres being the part of a tract which was sold and conveyed by Hoskins Hanson deceased to the said Samuel Hanson on March 12, 1795 as deed bearing date on that day will fully appear.
