Jan. 1703/4 - Anne Harguess vs. Benjamin Harrison, of Charles County, planter. Anne brought suit alleging that on June 14, 1703 she bestowed her skill and labor, at Benjamin's request, in setting the broken arm of Benjamin's wife, for which she deserveth 500 lbs. of tobacco. The case came on to be heard at the Jan. 1703/4 Court. Harrison did not deny the indebtedness but stated that Anne could not prevail in the case because her name was Anne Reeves and not Anne Hargess as set forth in the lawsuit. The Court agreed with Harrison, dismissed Anne's case, and ordered that Anne pay Harrison 242 lbs. of tobacco for his costs and charges.
