Harry Wright Newman believed that Edward Turner, s/o Arthur Turner of Charles Co. who m. Mary Smith, d/o Alexander Smith, might have been the same person as the Edward Turner who d. ca 1709 in St. Mary's County by an earlier wife of Arthur.
Edward Turner who d. ca 1709 St. Mary's Co. left the plantation called Boe or Bow to his youngest son Samuel in his will. This plantation is mentioned in the will of Samuel Turner written in 1746 in Charles Co.. This is presumed to be the same person as the Samuel Turner who made deposition in Charles Co. in 1735 that he was age 60, making his date of birth ca 1675.

      1. Samuel TURNER was born 1677 in Turner Forest, Charles County, Maryland, and died 29 OCT 1746 in Turner Forest, Charles County, Maryland. He was the son of 2. Edward TURNER and 3. Mary SMITH. He married Lydia DENT, daughter of John DENT and Mary HATCH. She was born 1676 in Ye Cool Springs, St. Mary's County, Maryland, and died in Turner Forest, Charles County, Maryland.

Children of Samuel TURNER and Lydia DENT are:
      i. John TURNER.
      ii. Micha TURNER.
      iii. Ruth TURNER.
      iv. Samuel TURNER.

      Subject: MD Families

I have MD families that went to Rowan County, NC thru my mother. Such as: Jo. Turner & Millicent King ( he the son of Wm Turner & Rhoda Dent; Wm the son of Edward Turner & Eleanor Wilson & I thought Edward's father & mother might be Samuel Turner & Lydia Dent. Of course, I have the info on Edward Turner & Mary Smith & also Arthur Turner. I also have info on Dent, King, Johnson, Hatch & Wilson.

A book on the Ark & Dove says Jerome Hawley's bro. Wm inherited his estate & a spinster dau of Jerome filed a claim to her father's estate after Wm's death. I know other people have claimed that Mary Haley that might have married Jo. Wilson was a decendent from Jerome. As regards Mary Haley, while reseaching in MD records I came a upon a Edward Connery (#398) d. 1676 whose widow Mary m. (2) Clement Haley (Raley?) d. 1694 (#1079) Ch: Eliz. & Mary (#84). Unfortunately, I failed to note book. I also have Hyde"s that might be from MD who intermarried with Thompson's, Ryley's & Kellow's.

Test: Wm. Hodgson, Mary Hodgson, Wm Heather, Robt. Foster.

Thomas Turner -- d. before 1709. Inherited fathers home in father's will. Also instructed to care for nieces, Mary and Elizabeth Sly, daughters of Clement Sly and Thomas's sister, Mary Turner Sly [This couple appears to be the one other sources identify as Mary and Clement Haley, see # T133. Perhaps the handwriting was unclear and could be either "Haley" or "Sly"...?]. Thomas was named administrator of his father's estate, but may have died before father died in 1709. Therefore Samuel, below, became administrator of father's estate.

This is a work still in progress. Please look it over and send any additions or corrections to: Robert Adams Gaebler, 229 S. Ridgeland, Oak Park, Ill. 60302. The numbering system follows an outline form, with children listed under parents. Each digit represents another generation, with children numbered in birth order if we know it. To locate all offspring of a family member, look for all entries beginning with the same code number. To trace ancestors back from a particular entry, lop off successive right-digits to find parents, grandparents, etc.
