    Notes
    • mm in Bulgaria Note - 30 April 2006.

I think Judith and Thomas Turner were married in Old Rappahannock County, Virginia prior Thomas relocating to St. Mary's. The Mattingly's rubbed shoulders with the Gardiners and Combs families that also lived in both counties. The note on the St. Mary's board and published marriages that all say she was married prior to 1664 is partially correct. I think Judith died about 1661 and Thomas remarried Emma Widow of Langsworth in 1661.

there is a Thomas Turner in Anne Arundel County, Maryland that died in 1674, but none of his extensive probate records indicate a St. Mary's Connection.

The marriage of Judith to this Thomas line is proved through his Grandson Thomas who has land dealing with Mattingsly Hope. you have to have a blood relationship to do that.

Edward Turner -- b. 165? d. before 7-27-1709; m. (1) Elizabeth ==?== (d. before 1688), (2) Mary Hatch [unproven], (3) Mary MNU; - Came to Maryland in 1652. His will was proved in St. Mary's County, Maryland 7-27-1709. It provided that his youngest son, Samuel, would inherit land called "The Bow", that his oldest son would inherit their home (described by Augusta True notes as close to home of other Trinity Parish Turners), that his his daughter, Elizabeth, would inherit her mother's wedding ring, and that his wife, Mary, would live on their plantation according to an anti-nuptial contract reserving the estate of her former husband for her children. Mary later married George Whittier sometime during 1709-10. Material from Virginia Beemer notes Edward Turner was listed as a magistarte for St. Mary's County, Maryland in 1696.

Harry Wright Newman believed that Edward Turner, s/o Arthur Turner of Charles Co. who m. Mary Smith, d/o Alexander Smith, might have been the same person as the Edward Turner who d. ca 1709 in St. Mary's County by an earlier wife of Arthur.
Edward Turner who d. ca 1709 St. Mary's Co. left the plantation called Boe or Bow to his youngest son Samuel in his will. This plantation is mentioned in the will of Samuel Turner written in 1746 in Charles Co.. This is presumed to be the same person as the Samuel Turner who made deposition in Charles Co. in 1735 that he was age 60, making his date of birth ca 1675.
