      The clerk of the house of delegates delivers to the clerk of the senate a bill, entitled, An act to authorise and empower the levy court of Montgomery county to assess and levy annually a sum of money for the support of Ruth Glaze, thus endorsed; " By the house of delegates, November 18, 1799: Read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.

      The bill, entitled, An act to authorise and empower the levy court of Montgomery county to assess and levy annually a sum of money for the support of Ruth Glaze, was read the second time by especial order and will pass

      The following message was prepared, read, agreed to, and, with the bill, entitled, An act toauthorise and empower the levy court of Montgomery county to assess and levy annually a sum of money for the support of Ruth Glaze, was sent to the house of delegates by the clerk.

      CHAP. VIII.
      An ACT to authorise and empower the levy court of Montgomery county to assess and levy annually a sum of money for the support of Ruth Glaze. Lib. JG. No. 3. fol. 250.
      WHEREAS Ruth Glaze, of Montgomery county, by her petition to this general assembly hath set forth, that she has for ten years past been confined to her bed, and has hiterto been maintained by her only son, who has done the same by teaching school, but who is at present rendered unable to continue that support, by a white swelling in one of his knees; therefore, II. BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the justices of the levy court of Montgomery county shall be and they are hereby authorised and empowered, at their levy court annually, so long as they shall see cause, to assess and levy on the assessable property of said county a sum of money, not exceeding forty dollars, for the support and maintenance of the said Ruth Glaze, and that the same be collected and paid annually by the collector of the county tax for Montgomery county to such person as the levy court of said county may direct.

      A petition from Ruth Glaze, of Montgomery county, praying the levy court of said county may be empowered to levy a sum of money on said county for her support, was preferred, read, and referred to Mr. Swearingen, Mr. Turner and Mr. Riley, to consider and report thereon. ORDERED, That the same have a second reading on Friday the 22d instant.
      Mr. Turner, from the committee, brings in and delivers to the speaker the following report: THE committee to whom was referred the petition of Ruth Glaze, of Montgomery county, report, that they have taken the same into consideration, and find the facts therein stated to be true, and recommend that a law may pass, authorising the levy court of montgomery county to assess and levy annually on the assessable property in the said county a sum not exceeding forty dollars for the support and maintenance of the said Ruth Glaze.
