      IN THE NAME OF GOD, Amen. The Last Will and Testament of JARRETT FORD on Munday the tenth day of November in the year of our Lord God 1746,
      Item, I give and bequeath to my beloved Son, DANIEL FORD, that part of that land whereon he the said DANIEL FORD doth dwell, with one half of the Land that I now possess for him and his male heir forever
      Item. I give and bequeath to my said Son. DANIEL, one Negro wench named Grace;
      Item I give and bequeath unto my beloved Son, WARNER FORD, my Dwelling Plantation whereon I now dwell with the with the other half of my Land for him and his male heirs forever; Also, I give unto my Son, WARNER FORD. my Old Gun:
      Item. I give and bequeath to my beloved Daughter. ELIZABETH FORD, one Negro wench Sarah for her to enjoy but in case she. the ELIZABETH, should die without heir of her body lawfully begotten, then the said Negro wench named Sarah shall be my Son, WARNER FORD to enjoy the Negro wench:
      Item. I give and bequeath unto my loving Wife, ELIZABETH FORD, one Molatta boy named Sam and one Negro boy named Joseph, farther more my will and desire is that the aforesaid Sam should serve ten years only and at the end and expiration of ten years tor the said Molatto Sam to be sat free from all incumbrances and at his free liberty, And as touching the remainder part and residue of my personal Estate, my will and desire is that it should be equally divided between my beloved Wife. ELIZABETH FORD, and my Daughter, ELIZABETH FORD. My will and desire that my whole Estate nor any part thereof may not be appraised but only Inventoryed, appointing my Son, DANIEL FORD. and my Son, WARNER FORD, and my beloved Wife to be my whole and sole Executors of this my Last Will and Testament, and revoking all other Wills and Testaments whatever, but this my Last Will and Testament to stand in Law. As Witness my hand and seal the day and year above written

      This Last Will and Testament of GERARD FORD, deceased, was presented into Court by ELIZABETH his Relict, and WARNER FORD, two of the Executors therein named who made Oath thereto and being proved by the Oaths of JOHN STEPHENS and AARON HARRISON, two of the witnesses thereto, is admitted to Record; And upon the motion of the said Executors and their performing what is usual in such cases. Certificate is granted them for obtaining a Probate thereof in due form

      IN YE NAME OF GOD Amen. I DAVID BROWN of Westmoreland County being of perfect mind & memory thanks be to God for it, and calling to mind ye mortalytie of my body and knowing yt: it is appointed for all men to dye, doe make and ordaine this to be my Last Will and Testamt. as followeth, viz.
      Imprs. I give and bequeath my Soul into ye hands of my heavenly Father that gave it, nothing doubting but ye same to receive again at ye general! Resurrection by his Almighty power and my body I give to ye Earth my Mother to be decently buryed at ye discretion of my Exectrs: hereafter nomynated and appointed;
      km I give to my Grand Son, ORIGINALL BROWN, one hundred and fifty acres of land lying on the Southside of COVENTREE RUNN to him & his heirs lawfully begotten for ever, butt in case of no issue, then to fall to my Son, ORIGINALL BROWN and his heirs, And I desire that my Daughter, MARY BOWLING, may quietly possess ye sd, land until my Grand Son, ORIGINALL BROWN comes of age;
      Itm, I give to my two Sons, JNO: and WM: ye land I now live on in MACHOTIQUE, being already devided by a line of marked trees begining on ye land of JOHN WEEDEN and runing South East to a red Oak on ye line of NATHL: GRAY & the North side to my Son, JNO: & ye South side to my Son, WM., to them and their heirs for ever; And if either of them should dye without heir, then ye other or his heirs to Injoy ye sd. land for Ever, And in case they should both dye without heir, then to fall to my Son, ORIGINALL BROWN, and his heirs for ever;
      Itm. I give to my Son, WM: one Dutch Chest and one Gunn;
      Itm. I give to my Son, ORIGINALL, Six yards of narrow Cloth and triming suitable to ye same;

No. 9; 1738-1744 {Antient Press}: pp 48-52THIS INDENTURE made the 24th day of March in the 14th year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the Second by the grace of God of Great Brittain France and Ireland, Eing, Defender of the faith &c., and in the year of our Lord Christ 1740, Between BIRDIT ASHTON, Gent. in Parish of Washington, Westmore-
      land County on one part and WM: TYLER, Gent., of the sd. Parish & County on other part;
      Witnesseth that BURDIT ASHTON in consideration of 5/ Sterling money to him in hand paid by WILLIAM TYLER, the receipt whereof BURDIT ASHTON doth herby acknowledge, bath and by these presents doth bargain and sell to WM: TYLER two parcels of land whereof one containing 50 acres, the other one acre of land being now in the possession of GERRARD FORD and WILLIAM TYLER, both which parcels of land were sold by GERRARD FORD to MICHAEL PHILLIPS by Deed dated the 20th day of January in the year 1668 & acknowledged in the afsd. County Court the 7th of April 1669, as by the cited Deeds will more fully appear; and MICHAEL PHILLIPS being so seized did by his Last Will and Testament devise the same to his two Sons, viz., MICHAEL & ANTHONY, which said MICHAEL & ANTHONY being since dead and leaving no heirs, the land fell & descended to THOMASIN BEARD, Sister of MICHAEL and ANTHONY, the only Daughter and heir at Law of MICHAEL PHILLIPS, being bounded the first parcel of land containing 50 acres begining at the N: W: side of the said FORDS Orchard & extending to the uttermost line of the said land which divides the said FORDS Dividend & the land of WM. NORTHELL for breadth & from the sd. Orchard into the Main Woods parralell with the uttermost line for length untill the 50 acres be fully complealted, and the other parcel! containing One acre, viz. lying on POTOMACK RIVER and begining at a marked Cherry tree standing on the bank side, it being a corner tree of a parcell of land in the possession of the said PHILLIPS & runing S: E: at the bank side 7 perches or thereabouts to a small marked red Oake standing on the said bank side, thence S: W: parralell to the said PHILLIPS's line until! one acre be comprehended with the N: W: corse, Together with all profits, commodities & appurtenances to the premises belonging; To have and to hold the land containing 50 & the other one acre of land with appurtenances to WM: TYLER his heirs during the term of one whole year paying BURDIT ASHTON his heirs the rent of one grain of Indian Corn at the Nativity of our Lord Christ if lawfully demanded to the intent that by virtue of these presents and by force of the Statute for transfering uses into possession WILLIAM TYLER may be in actual possession of the premises and enabled to take a grant of the inheritance thereof to him and his heirs; In Witness whereof the first above named have hereunto interchangably set their hands & fix'd their seals the day and year above written
