      202. Ordered that Coll. WILLIAM FITZHUGH, Capt. JOHN WITHERS, Mr. MATTHEW THOMPSON and Mr. ROBERT BRENT shall on Monday the 26th Instant shall meet at the Courthouse and audit all manner of accounts and Querelles between SAMPSON DARRELL and AMBROSE BAYLY and the said persons hath full and ample power given them to put an End and full determination to all matters disputes and controversies between them from the Beginning of the work to this day Etc that the said Ambrose Bayly shall be ordered by the abovesaid persons to go immediately upon the Courthouse worke and not leave untill it be fully finished.===

      55. Capt. MALACHY PEALE, Capt. GEORGE MASON, Capt. JOHN WITHERS and Mr. RICHARD FOSSAKER are by this Court desired to audit and settle accounts between SAMPSON DARRELL and AMBROSE BAYLEY and it is ordered that what falls due upon account to Ambrose Bayley shall be immediately paid him by Sampson Darrell Provided that Ambrose Bayley shall go on immediately with the work of the Court House and continue thereon until the work be fully satisfied and corn-pleated Sampson Darrell finding and providing for Ambrose Bayley diet and all other necessaries according to their former contract and agreement while the work is finishing alsoe tis further ordered that the audit on the accompt shall not be made till the work be fully finished and perfected

      252. Ordered that Mr. SAMPSON DARRELL shall pay unto AMBROSE BAYLY the sum two thousand seven hundred and thirty nine pounds of Tobacco being in full the ballance of accompts due between them after Ambrose Bayly shall have fully finished and compleatly ended the Courthouse according to agreemt with costs

      342 GEORGE ANDREW attorney of JOHN CRAWLEY of the County of Northumberland complains against AMBROSE BAYLY of this County Carpenter in a plea of debt .. the sum Four hundred and sixty pounds of Tobacco in caske one by bill under hand and Seale wherefore the Plt in his said Qualification afsd hath brought his action against the said Bayly and craves Judgment against him for his said debt with costs of suit etc.
      And the said Bayly the deft came into Court in propria persona and could say nothing in Barr or Preclusion of the Premises but that the same is Justly due as afsd Therefore tis ordered that the Said Ambrose Bayly shall make present payment of the said sum .. of tobacco in cask unto George Andrew in his said Qualification afsd with costs
      Stafford Ss. George Andrews of the County afsd was attached to answer Ambrose Bayly of a plea why he by force and arms one good horse of him the said Ambrose of the Price of two thousand pounds of Tobacco loth unlawfully and contrary to the Peace etc detain and keep to his great damage etc Whereupon he the said Ambrose by ROBERT BRENT his attorney complains that whereas he the said Ambrose at the instance and Persuasion of him the said George did bargain and sell unto JOHN HAWKIN of this County a certain horse of him the said Ambrose and for and in consideration of the said horse the said George did then etc there covenant and agree to pay and deliver to the said Ambrose a certain younge horse of him the said George which he accordingly did and gave him a bill of Sale for the same with which the said Ambrose was well contented but some time after that is to say upon or about the ( ) day of ( ) in this present year 1692 the said Ambrose did chop and exchange the aforesaid young horse with the said George for a certain bay horse branded with JA on the near Buttock which said horse depastureing some time after in the pasture of him the said George the said Ambrose Some time since that is to say upon or about the day of ( ) in the year afsd went as Lawfully he might to take his aforesaid horse but the said George by force etc as afsd and contrary to the Peace etc as afsd the said horse did and still doth detain and keep whereby the said Ambrose is the worse and damage hath received to the value of three thousand pounds of Tobacco where-upon he brings his Suit etc.
      And the said George the deft by SAMSON DARRELL his attorney appears in Court and for Plea saith not guilty in manner and forme etc.
      And now forasmuch as the said Ambrose Bayly by the plt. could not Justifie aver and maintain his said action against the said George Anderson the deft Therefore tis ordered that Ambrose Bayly shall be nonsuit and shall make present payment of the sum fifty pounds of Tobacco unto the said George Andrew with costs ..
      Stafford Ss. George Andrew of the County afsd was attached to answer Ambrose Bayly of a plea that he render unto him the sum of four thousand pounds of Tobacco due per account which he denies altho often demanded by the said George whereupon he brings his suit etc And the said George Andrew the deft did appear in Court by SAMSON DARRELL his attorney and defends the force etc and for plea saith nil debet per Legem.
      And now forasmuch as it doth appear to this Court that the said action here brought by the Plt against the deft is for work done in building his house therefore it is considered by the Court and they doe therefore order that SIMON THOMASON and THOMAS NORMAN both Carpenters Living in this County shall view and look over the worke done by the said Bayley the Plt for the said Andrew the deft and that they make a True report of the value thereof according to their skill and Judgment to the next Court and that the action now depending to this cause between the Plt and deft shall be referred to the next Court

      402. AMBROSE BAYLEY came into Court and confessed Judgment to THEODRICK BLAND for the sum four hundred pounds of Tobacco due him by bill .. Wherefore It is considered by this Court that Ambrose Bayley shall make present payment of the said sum .. of Tobacco unto Theodrick Bland with costs.
