      To the child of my wife is now big with and unborn, be it son or dau, all that land in William and Mary Parish, Charles Co. called "New Alford," 80 a.
      To wife two Negroes Ben and Pegg.

      I leave my son Thomas and dau. Prissilla to the care and direction of their grandfather Mr. Thomas Gantt of Prince George's Co. or if he refuses then to their uncle Edward Gantt of Calvert Co.

      Nov 23, 1745 from Brock Mockbee of PG, to Samuel Clagett of PG, for 120 sterling, all that part or parcel of land, being part of a greater tract called Brock Hall, lying on the west side of Patuxent River in PG, bounded by a parcel of land now in the possession of Charles Hodge, then with sd Hodge's line to the Back Branch, then to a line of a tract of land called Bealls Hunting Quarter, containing about 200 acres.       Charles County Land Record Book A#2, 1752-1756; Page (242). Nov 13, 1754 from John Warland of CC, planter, to the Revd Samuel Clagett of CC. John Warland, late of CC, decd, and father to John Warland, party to these presents, was seized of a tract of land in William & Mary Parish in Cc called New Alford, containing about 86 acres, by patent, which sd tract the sd John Warland the younger has sufficient reason to believe was sold by his father to George Thomas, sometime since of CC, now dead, and for which sd George Thomas paid a valuable consideration whereby he possessed sd tract many years, and by his will, devised the tract to his grandson, Benjamin Compton of CC, who has since sold conveyed the premises to the afd Claget, and for which he has received 10,000 lbs of tobacco. Now as the deed from John Warland the Elder to George Thomas afd, though neglect or misconduct, cannot readily be found upon record. Sd John Warland the younger being satisfied of the justness of this matter, and for 1000 lbs of tobacco to him paid by sd Clagett, Warland sells Clagett the tract of land called New Alford_ Signed - John Warland. [Extremely faded except for the last paragraph page 28]. especially moving, have given .. thence south perches then south .. 1756 .. and Gustavus Brown and the sd Samuel shall have the use of, complying with the conditions hereinafter expressed, that is to say, sd Samuel agrees that his estate, both real and personal, shall be liable to and chargeable with the repayment of the same sum of 300 sterling to the sd Gustavus Brown in case of the death of the sd Samuel before his sd wife, in trust only for the use of the sd Ann and the heirs of her body begotten by the sd Samuel, and it is also agreed that the sd sum of money so to be paid out of the estate of the sd Samuel shall not be deemed to mean to hinder as Ann's right of dower in the lands. .. sd Gustavus Brown obliges sd Samuel Claggett to an exact compliance with the foregoing agreement. Sd Samuel Clagett gave bond to Gustavus Brown of CC, of 100 sterling, this Jan 24, 1756, to warrant that Cleggett will truly perform every part of the contracts and agreements before recited on his part to be performed.       Indenture made October 12, 1774; Samuel Hanson, gentleman of Charles County, Maryland and Ann Hanson his wife in consideration of the rents and covenants hereinafter contained has demised and to farm let by these presents unto Thomas John Clagett, clerk of Calvert County, Maryland a tenement being the thirds of a tract called "Croom" which they have a right to by virtue of Ann's intermarriage with the late Rev. Samuel Clagett of Charles County, Maryland. To have and to hold during the natural life of Ann Hanson and no longer, paying annually on or before October 12th, 12 pounds, circulating money, provided always and whereas 150 acres part of the aforesaid tract called "Croom" purchased by the late Rev. Samuel Clagett of Leonard Piles is now claimed by the heirs in tail of Francis Piles father of Leonard Piles who threatens to bring suit for recovery of the said 150 acres if such suit should be actually brought in recovery had by law and Thomas John Clagett should be ousted of the possession of the said 150 acres then in such case no more than 9 pounds 10 shillings common circulating money shall be paid annually from the time of such ouster.
