      I, Anna Matthews of CC, enjoying my usual health reason and understanding;
      To daughter Catharine Hebb and Elizabeth Matthews, negro Sarah, my wearing apparel and some small candles which are in my desk.
      To son Elias P{oston} Mattews and Henry C{ooksey} Matthews, negro George.
      Item" negro slave Barton shall be appraised and my son William Matthews shall take him at the valuation and to pay to each of representatives a proporational part.
      Item: whereas I have given my sons Willliam Matthews, John Matthews, Alexander Matthews, Elias P. Matthews, Henry C. Matthews, and daughters Catharine Hebb, Elizabeth Matthews 1000 dollars each, shall go in full satisfaction of all right to my part of my estate.
      Item: it is my will that my granddaughter Emily Matthews, grandsons John Matthews and Thomas Henry Matthews, shall have a suit of mourning.

      William Poston's Will. May 29, 1777.
      I, William Poston of CC, am weak of body but of perfect mind and memory.
      To my wife Priscilla Poston - the use of my estate, both real and personal, during her natural life or widowhood_ After her death, all the lands are to be sold to the highest bidder. If she marries, my personal and real estate is to be immediately divided among my children.
      To my son Jeremiah Poston - one eighth part of the produce of all the sale of my lands.
      To my children, Elias Poston, Alexander Poston, Richard Poston, Judith Poston, Anne Poston, and William Poston - each of them, one eighth part of the money arising from the sale of my lands, and all the personal ., beloved wife .. to be equally divided between them
      To my sister-in-law Rachel Noe - she is to be taken care of by my wife and children.

      I, Priscilla Poston of CC being infirm of body but of perfect and sound mind and memory
      To my children; Elias Poston, Richard Poston, William Poston, Judith Dent, and Anna Matthews and to the representatives of my deceased son Jeremiah Poston, the whole of my lands which I have bought and taken up to be divided among them in the following manner; that each of my children have one sixth part and the representatives of my deceased son Jeremiah Poston have also one sixth part.
      To my children and the representatives of my deceased son Jeremiah Poston, all my personal estate to be divided as above said exclusive of the singular bequeaths hereafter mentioned.
      To daughter Judith Dent, one white grounded chintz gown, one scarlet cloak, one lawn apron, six yards of fine linen, one pair of cotton stockings, one pair of black calimanco shoes, one pair of leather gloves, one white and one blue yarn petticoats, one blue cotton petticoat, one checked muslin handkerchief, one dark grounded short gown, my best lawn handkerchief, and my black bonnet.
      To daughter Anna Matthews, my new saddle and bridle, one black cloak, one yellow grounded chintz gown, one pair of silver buckles, one white glass bottle, one pair of yarn stockings, one pair of blue kid gloves, one muslin handkerchief, one piece of new flowered ribbon, one yard of black ribbon, one Holland apron, one cotton petticoat, one blue riding sase, one fine shift, one silk handkerchief, one fringed table cloth, one blanc calimanco petticoat, one beaufet, and one looking glass.
      To sister Rachel Noe, the feather bed and furniture whereon she usually sleeps, one woman's leather seated saddle, six pounds in money, two yards of fine linen and some remnants of linen, one new prayer book, one lawn apron, one striped cotton gown, two yards of striped cotton and one fine shift.

      We John Reid of Caswell County, North Carolina, Elias Poston of Hampshire County, Virginia, Richard Poston of Washington, District of Colombia and Anna Matthews of CC doth by these presence constitute and appoint our trusty fried William Poston of Washington, District of Colombia for us and our names to make over by a sufficient deed of conveyance all the right title interest which ever was in Priscilla Poston late of CC deceased or which from her hath decended or been devised to a certain tract of land take up by the said Priscilla Poston on a resurvey of "Goodwill" and part of another called "Witton Enlarged" and included in said survey containing 15 acres, to the Reverend Hatch Dent.       Indenture made August 23, 1805; William Matthews in consideration of 672 dollars 73 cents current money of the United States paid by Anna Matthews of CC does sell one undivided 1/7th part of the real estate which Thomas Matthews late of CC deceased father of the said William Matthews died possessed and descended to the said William Matthews by the death of his father.
