      I Thomas Clagett of Frederick County, Maryland, planter am held and firmly bound unto Sabret Clagett in the full and just sum of 120 pounds current money of Great Britain to which payment will be well and truly made this August 12, 1751. The condition of the obligation is such that whereas Thomas Clagett is heir after the decease of his father John Clagett of PGCo to part of a tract called "Greenland" containing 200 acres now in the possession of John Clagett [sic Thomas Clagettt] and whereas Thomas Clagett for the consideration of 60 pounds sterling money paid by Sabret Clagett has forever quit claim all his right title and interest in and to the said lands.       This Indenture made this fifteenth day of June in the Year Seventeen hundred and Sixty Seven Between Basil Beckwith of Prince Georges County Planter of the one part and John Clagett of the Same County Planter of the other part Whereas for the docking barring and extinguishing all Estates Tail and Reversions or Remainders thereupon expectant or depending of and in the Lands and Appurtenances herein after mentioned the said Basil Beckwith as Demandant did heretofore (at the request Cost and Charges of the aforesaid John Clagett) Prosecute and sue forth out of his Lordships high Court of Chancery his said Lordships Writ of Entry sur Disseisin enlepost against him the said John Clagett returnable and returnable to the Provincial Court at Annapolis the third Tuesday of May whereby the said Basil Beckwith did Demand against him the said John Clagett All that tract or parcell of plantable Land lying and being in Prince Georges County aforesaid called Greenland and Containing seven hundred acres To which said writ the said John Clagett did appear by his Attorney thereto lawfull authorized and Vouch to Warranty thereof the common Voucher of the Same Court and such further and other proceedings were thereupon had that the said Basil Beckwith did by Judgment of the same Court recover his Seisin against the said John Clagett of and in the Demanded premisses and the said John Clagett did recover over in value against the Common Vouchee whereby a common Recovery of the aforesaid premises hath been had and Suffered Now this Indenture Witnesseth that for the setling and declaring the intent and use of the said Recovery and for and in consideration of five Shillings current money by him the said John Clagett to the aforesaid Basil Beckwith in hand paid the Receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged It is hereby covenanted granted agreed and declared by and between the said parties to these presents That the said common Recovery so as aforesaid or in any other manner had and Suffered and the Execution thereof from and immediately after the Suffering the same or any other Recovery or Recoveries of the said mentioned premisses or any part thereof was meant and intended to be and enure and it is hereby declared to be and enure and that the Recoverer therein named and his heirs should and Shall stand and be seised of and in the Recovered Premisses and every part and parcell thereof to and for the only proper use and Behoofe of the said John Clagett his heirs and Assigns forever and to or for no other use Intent or Purpose whatsoever In Witness whereof the parties to these presents have hereunto interchangeably set their hands and Affixed their Seals the day and year first above Written

      Memorandum that on the special petition of Leonard Hollyday preferred to the justices of Prince George's County, Maryland on the 4th Tuesday in June in the 13th year of his Lordship commission the Right Hon. the Lord Proprietary Dominion etc., his Lordship commission issued by order of the justices aforesaid out of the county aforesaid on April 10, 1764 in these words following, Frederick Absolute Lord and Proprietary of the Province of Maryland and Avalon Lord Baron of Baltimore vizt; to Messrs George Gordon, Joseph Sim, William Lock Weems and Benjamin Brookes of PGCo Gentleman, whereas Leonard Holliday, is seized of several tract tracks called "Moore's Fields", "Battenwick", "Four Hills" and "Berry's Fortune" and preferred his petition in writing to our county court held at Upper Marlbro Town to examine evidence to prove and perpetuate the memory of the bounds of the said tracts of land. Therefore, we command you any three or two of you to examine all witnesses or persons concerned touching their knowledge of the bounds of the said tract.       John Clagett aged about 80 years being at a bounded black or red oak standing at the side of a hill of an old field declares he has often heard and always understood the said tree to be the beginning tree of "Greenland" and then he further understood that the lands which was held by Benjamin Berry and now in possession of Dr. Leonard Hollyday came to this tree and further saith not
      John Clagett aged 80 being at a small dogwood tree standing on a gravelly nnoll where formerly stood a bounded oak declared he has often told it was the second bound tree of "Greenland" and further saith not
      Robert Bradly aged 64 years being at an old black oak now lying down and decayed near the mouth of Deep Branch and about 20 yards from St. Charles Branch declares he was told about 20 years ago but can't recollect by whom that it was a bound tree of Berry's land now in possession of Dr. Leonard Holliday and further saith not
