Patrick Moreland's children are named in a court document dated June 15, 1719. By act of Assembly, John Magraw and George C. Dements were ordered to pay to John Moreland, Philip Moreland, Mary Moreland, Patrick Moreland, William Moreland and Jacob Moreland, children of Patrick Moreland, deceased, the balance of their father's estate. Of a total of one hundred four pounds, three shillings due from their father's estate, the unpaid balance was fifty-two pounds, one shilling and seven pence.1 (Source) "Court Order for John Magraw and George C. Dements to pay the balance due the heirs of Patrick Moreland's Estate," Charles County, Maryland Deed Book H2, pp. 262-263, recorded June 15, 1719.

John appeared on the tax roll of 1733 in Port Tobacco Parish, East Hundred, Charles County, Maryland. He patented property on 6 July 1739 in Charles County, Maryland. This purchase, or lease, from Lord Baltimore, in implied in the February 1768 Rent Roll of Zachaiah Manor. The roll shows that the land was originally leased to John Moreland in 1739 for the duration of the lives of Patrick Moreland and John Moreland. As of the date of the rent roll, February 1768, John's son in law, Paul Howell age 40 was the tenant in possession.

The land in question contained 50 1/2 acres and is probably the same tract known as Moreland Chance that John and Anne Moreland sold to Paul and Mary Howell in 1747. John is believed to have leased property on 25 December 1746 in Charles County. This lease consisted of 76 acres from Lord Baltimore described on the rent of roll of Zacharia Manor. The roll shows that the land was originally leased to John Moreland in 1746, for the duration of the lives of Zachariah Moreland and Zephaniah Moreland. John sold the property on 10 August 1847 in Charles County. John Morland and Ann, his wfe, for 'Natural Love and affection we dear unto our two children Paule Howell and Mary his wife also for and in consideration of the sum of fifty Pounds' sold to said Paul and Mary Howell a 50 acres tract of land lying in Zachariah Manor known as Morland Chance. the deed was signed by John and Anne (each making their marks) in the presence of Robert Hanson and was recorded on 17 November 1747, at the request of Paule Howell and Mary his wife.
