      Hello List,
Wanted this list to see this Newspaper article. As some maybe related to the Brookes,Bowie, Clarke,Spriggs, Pile families.
One error in the article, Elizabeth Brookes first husband was John [not Richard] Clarke Sprigg. John Clarke Sprigg is the s/o Gilbert Sprigg and Elizabeth Clark. Gilbert Spigg is the s/o Col. Edward Sprigg and Elizabeth Pile. Elizabeth Pile is the d/o Dr. Richard Pile and his wife Mary and Dr. Richard is who in 1734 patented the tract called Addition Piles Delight.

Piles Delight for Sale by Elizabeth Bowie

      Article Text:

On Monday, the twenty-seventh of August next, will be sold at the house of
DAVID HARVEY in Sharpsburg to the highest bidder for ready money, the life
estate of Mrs. ELIZABETH BOWIE in 115 acres of land, a part of the
resurvey on the Addition to Piles Delight. This land is of very excellent
quality and lies almost adjoining the town of Sharpsburg; and a
considerable part of it is still in woods. Mrs. BOWIE is the wife of Mr.
WILLIAM SPRIGG BOWIE of Prince Georges County, and was before her last
marriage the widow of the late Mr. RICHARD CLARKE SPRIGG. She is about 35
years of age of strong constitution and in the enjoyment of good health.
There can be doubt as to the title of this land; it is assigned to Mrs.
Bowie as her dower in a tract of land sold by her late husband Mr. SPRIGG
in his life time; and since her marriage with Mr. BOWIE has been by him
sold and conveyed to Mr. RINALDO JOHNSON, for whom I transact this
business. The sale will commence at 12 o'clock and attendance given by
the subscriber, who will then more fully shew an explain the title of Mr.
Johnson; and will also make a deed to the purchaser; to do which he has
      full power and authority.

      JOHN T. MASON
      Hagerstown, July 11, 1792
      N. B. Possession of the lands will be given immediately, but liberty
reserved to the persons occupying any part thereof to gather and remove
crops now growing thereon and to hold possession of their respective
      fields until that is done.
