Notes - Esq., Justice of Gloucester Co, Virginia, and High Sheriff in 1660. On November 20, 1678, Anthony Savage, of the upper precinct of Sittinburne parish, conveyed to Francis Thornton and Alice Savage Thornton, his wife, 300 acres to be divided from the tract he then lived on of 1,000 acres, called Mongoheocala with division to granddaughter, Margaret Thornton, who afterward married Wm. Strother, Jr., son of the first William and his wife Dorothy. In 1727, William Strother, Jr., and his wife, Margaret Thornton, conveyed this land to their son, William Strother, of "Stafford," (who married Margaret Watts) (Register, Kentucky Hist Soc, May 1911).

KNOW ALL MEN by these prsents that I Mr, ANTHONY SAVAGE of the Upper Precincts of Sittingburne Parish in the County of Rappae: Esqr. for diverse good causes, doe give unto my Sonne in Law, FRANCIS THORNTON and ALICE his Wife of the said Parish and County aforesaid Three hundred acres of land which shall be taken out of that Devident of land whereupon I now live; conteyning One thousand acres on the North side of the said River commonly called MANGA KEMOCOW beginning at my upper Corner tree on the River and soe runing to my back line, and from thence to the River including Three hundred acres, taking a proportionable breadth on the River according to the number of acres; To have & to hold the said Three hundred acres of land wth all the priviledges thereto belonging which land the aforesaid FRANCIS THORNTON and ALICE his Wife shall enjoy during their natural! lives & after their deceases, the reversion shall fall to my Grand Child, MARGARET THORNTON, and her heires forever, All waies provided that what Timber I shall have occasion for my own perticular use. if I think fitt, & find it more convenient thereon my own land to take of the said Three hundred acres, Alsoe the abovesd FRANCIS THORNTON shall not let the said land to any person during his life without my consent And I the said ANTHONY SAVAGE doe covenant that the said FRANCIS THORNTON & those that are to succeed him by these prmises shall quietly enjoy the said land wthout any lett or expulsion of mee my heires & doe covenant to acknowledge this Deed of Gift in the County Court of Rappae: aforesaid reasonable notice being given mee. In confirmation whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seale this 20th of November 1678
