Notes for Abraham Field:
There are several traditions about Abraham Field (1636-1674). [One} deals with the identity of his first wife. Many secondary sources state that he married Mary Ironmonger, the daughter of William Irenmonger and Elizabeth Jones. The evidence for this marriage is suspect and many researchers do not think Abraham ever married a Mary Irenmonger. Abraham's second wife, Mary Spence, survived him and was the executrix of his will. Mary later married Corderoy Irenmonger and was referred to in court documents as "Mary Ironmonger, relict of Abraham Field." An early researcher may have made a mistake which has been perpetuated. A reference to an Ellis Field has been found in the Westmoreland County, Virginia court records. Some researchers believe this Ellis to be Abraham Field's first wife.
=== Research Notes from Donna Cooper
Abraham Field married Mary Ironmonger, daughter of William and Elizabeth Jones Ironmonger, Jul 27, 1670. William was from Salisbury, Wiltshire, England an died Gloucester Co., VA in 1695.
I don't think that Abraham Field and Mary Ironmonger had children because she died in 1674 in Westmoreland Co., VA - All of Abraham's children were by Mary Spence.
Abraham and Mary Spence Field's son, Daniel married Mary Alday and is my ancestor. My DNA on the two maternal line tests and the Family Finder test verify my records as correct.
As you know - Daniel Field married (1) Mary Aft. 1692 in Westmoreland County, Virginia. She died Unknown. He married (2) Mary Alday Bef. 1702 in Westmoreland County, Virginia, daughter of Henry Alday and Grace Grey. She was born 1661 in Westmoreland County, Virginia, and died Bef. 7 April 1720 in Westmoreland County, Virginia.
