      Note:
CAROLINE COUNTY, VIRGINIA --On motion of William MOORE (I) and Margaret. his wife, on 11 Mar 1757, it is ordered that John CRANE, Thomas DILLARD, and Robert DURRETT divide the estate of Robert HALL in Spotsylvania County according to his will. On receipt of their portion, young William & Margaret (HALL) MOORE moved to Prince William County as shown in 1762 in Caroline County when Jeremiah CANNADY proved his suit of debt against William MOORE. Mrs. Sarah SMITH appeared to declare that she had in her possession a chest, two padlocks, one key, one small phial, one small piece of soap and a razor strop belonging to MOORE. The court ordered that the Sheriff sell these items to satisfy the judgement.

William MOORE (I) - PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, VIRGINIA --William MOORE (I) purchased Lot No. 44 in Dumfries, Prince William County, from John GRAHAM and Allan MACRAE on 27 Aug 1759. Note here that a John GRAHAM was one of the founders of Fredericksburg, Spotsylvania County. This may be the same John GRAHAM and may account for the move of the young MOORE couple to Dumfries. In 1761 William MOORE (I) and John SIMMS, along with Richard KENNER, were counter security for George and Anne ROWLAND to faithfully administer the estate of William GALLAHUE, deceased, for whose estate Anne GALLAHUE was Administrator. Counter security was needed when the original co-signers of the Administrator's Bond, Nathaniel OVERALL and George CALVERT, Jr., petitioned the court for relief. On 1 Apr 1765 William MOORE (I) and Margaret his wife, sold Lot No. 44 in Dumfries to John BAYLIS. Payment was 5 shillings, the aproximate cost of registering the deed. George ROWLAND husband of Anne KENNER GALLAHUE was the step father of Elizabeth GALLAHUE who married Rodney MOORE in 1669 in Henry County. Rowland and his family were neighbors of William MOORE (II) of Marrowbone Creek, Henry County, Virginia
