      John Posey, a captain in the Virginia Regiment, who served under Washington in the Forbes campaign, married Lucy Frances Thornton, a daughter of George Thornton, of Orange County, Va. Captain Posey's estate in Fairfax County lay along the Potomac, adjacent to Mount Vernon, and later became the property of George Washington.
