      Note:
Richard Youell married Ann, surname unknown, they both being deceased in 1695. They were the parents of:

      1. Samuel, married Judith (???) and settled in New Kent County. Owing to the destruction of the records of this County, the only available record is found in the parish register of St. Peter's Parish, which chronicles the baptisms of four daughters from 1687 to 1702: Sarah Yowell (died young); Sarah, Ruth, and Elizabeth Yeoell.
      2. Harman, of whom further.
      3. Elizabeth, married John Atwell, who died in 1713, leaving, besides his wife, three sons, Thomas, Youell and Samuel, all under twenty-one, and daughters Hannah, Lydia and Francis.
      4. Mathew, sheriff of Northumberland County in 1739.
      5. Christopher.
      6. Ann, a minor at the time of the death of her parents. She was taken into the home of Patrick Muckleroy and, on May 3, 1695, upon the petition of Penelope (Youell) Spence, "Anne Youel, an orphant daughter of Richard and Anne Youel, dec., & goddaughter and near relation to the said Penelope, is by this Court Comitted to the said Penelope, she having assumed in Court to provide decently for her and to bring her up in housewifery & teach her to read."

      Note from Janet:
Elizabeth could not be daughter of John and Jane Awbrey or even his son. John Awbrey and Jane Johnstone was not married a the time of Jane's mother death. Jane sister Elizabeth was to a Payne.
I believe that Elizabeth Johnstone is the wife John Payne

Elizabeth Atwell, the widow, died early in 1719, for on Feb. 26, 1718/19

      1st husband John Paine.
John Paine, the first husband of Elizabeth Atwell, was the son of an earlier John Paine (b. 1623, d. about 1669 in Westmoreland Co.), whose will, dated Dec. 9, 1668, mentions his son John (under 17), daughter Elizabeth, wife Millicent, and son James. It is unknown who Elizabeth Atwell Paine parents were.

Elizabeth Payne Atwell, the widow died early 1719, for on Feb 26 1718/19 William Paine, son John Paine and Elizabeth his wife, who was executrix of John Atwell, her late husband, was granted administration on her estate.

John and Francis Awbrey were witnesses to John Atwell's will in 1713; Wiliam Paine and Elizabeth deed his land to Francis Awbrey in 1722; John Paine and Francis Awbrey were securities to William Paine on the estate of John and Elizabeth Atwell in 1722; Francis Awbrey was on of the securites for Hannah Atwell, daughter of John and Elizabeth, when she took over the property from her brother Wiliam Paine in 1723 and Chandler Awbery, only son of John Awbrey, in his will in 1755 left mourning suits, not only to his sister and niece Hannah McAuley and her daughter Mary, but also to Mrs Martha Atwell (wife Samuel Atwell and Miss Sarah Atewell. These records certainly indicated kinship between the Awbreys and the Atwells but they do not prove that Elizabeth, wife of John Atwell, was a sister of John and Francis Awbrey; for the two brothers, as we shall see, married Hannah and Frances Tanner, nieces of John Atwell himself.
