      Note:
The will of Henry Owsley of Lincoln County, written on 3 April 1808, was proved 21 Jan 1811. Therein, he named his wife Martha, children Thomas, Ebsworth, Henry, John, Susannah Faris and Elly Williams, and granddaughter Winney, the daughter of his son Thomas. Witnesses were Daniel Owsley and Nudigate Owsley and executors were his wife Martha, and sons Thomas and Henry Owsley (Lincoln Co. Wills, E: 4).

About 1775, presumably in Maryland, Henry Owsley married Winifred Taylor, whom HBO (p. 103) calls the daughter of General Taylor of New York. He was married 2ndly to Martha Bayne, daughter of Ebsworth and Susanna (Lee) Bayne. The original marriage record in Prince George's County recorded his name as Henry Howsley. The children of Henry Owsley by his two wives are also named by HBO, p. 129-140.

In 1890, with the sale of the original Owsley plantation, the graves of Henry and Martha Owsley, as well as those of Henry's parents, Thomas and Mary (Middleton) Owsley, were relocated from Crab Orchard in Lincoln County, Kentucky to Oak Ridge Cemetery, Springfield, Sangamon County, Illinois by their granddaughter, Ella Williams Owsley Brainerd (1840-1928), and buried there in the Brainerd plot. The original slate grave markers are still very legible despite the passage of nearly two centuries.
