Notes - ELIZABETH STURMAN, dau. of Thomas,. Sturman I, and his wife, Ann, was born in England, and came to the Province of Maryland with her parents in 1640. She md. prior to 1654 (date of mother's will), Capt. William Hardwich (Hardidge, Hard-wick, Hardridge), who was b. about 1618, in England, came early to Maryland, where he received pay as a soldier in 1642, and bore an active part in Ingle's Rebellion. On March 24-1652, he, with the two Sturmans, Thomas' and John Sr. was accused by Thomas Cornwallis as being a leader in the Rebellion in 1644. He was of the Puritan party, and described as a tailor. He removed to Virginia, settled in Westmoreland County, and was quite a wealthy man.
Issue of Elizabeth Sturman and her husband, Capt. Wm. Hardich:
1. Elizabeth Hardich, b. prior to 1654. was named in the will of her grandmother, Ann.' Sturman, of that date, as "little Betty Hardich", who md. previous to 1668, (date of father's will), Robert Wynston. Both lived in the "Citty of Bristol", Eng., and are untraced.
