      Capt. Francis Atwell may have been the eldest son of Thomas and Honora Atwell, He is mentioned to have made a deed of gift to his brothers in 1692. His wife was named Mary and he died in Westmoreland Co. in 1725, his widow Mary being his administrator. He had two sons, Thomas and John Atwell , and perhaps a son, Henry Atwell, who appears as a witness in 1721

      YOUELL WATKINS admitted Guardian to FRANCIS ATTWELL, JUNR. exhibited here in Court at March Court 1714 his certaine Complaint against FRANCIS ATTWELL, Executor of the Last Will and Testament of THOMAS ATTWELL, deced., Father to FRANCIS the Younger, at which Court FRANCIS the Executor being summoned and faileing to answer thereto, an Attachment passed against him and haveing notice thereofby the Sheriffand not answering at September Court then next, on motion of Complainant the Respondt was taxed with costs and the Attachment continued &c., And now at this Court all parties being present, it is·mutually consented to and agreed on amongst them and accordingly ordered by the Court that THOMAS BONAM, THOMAS LEE and JOHN BUSHROD, Gent. doe inspect settle state and adjust all Accounts, matters, articles and things relateing to the difference and that they make report of their proceedings therein under their hands to the next Court to be held for this County and that Judgment doe pass thereon accordingly
