      In the name of God Amen I James Mason of Washington parish in Westmoreland County being sick & weak but of perfect sense, mind and memory thanks be to God do make appoint and ordain this my last will & testament in manner & form following first & principally I bequeath my soul into the hands of Almighty God not doubting but trusting through the meritts & passion of Jesus Christ my only Savior & redeemer to receive forgiveness of all my manifold sins & wickedness and my body to the earth hoping at the last day to receive a joyful and glorious resurrection. And for what temporal estate it hath pleaed God Parr beyond my deserts to bestow upon me I give and bequeath & devise as followeth

      Item, I give & bequeath my land to my cozen John Higdon when he shall arrive to the age of twenty and in case my said cozen die before he become of the age aforesaid Or without an heir lawfully begotten of his own body then my will is that Richard Wroe shall have that part of my land now rented to William Wroe and the other part of my land I give and bequeath to William Browne son of William Browne

      Item I give & bequeath unto my said cozen John Higdon all my brass iron & pewter and that it lie in the hands of my Ears. untill my said Cozen shall arrive to the age aforesaid and then to be delivered in Specia-

      Item I give and bequeath unto Mary Browne twenty shillings to buy her a ring

      Item I give and bequeath unto Hannah Wroe twenty shillings-

      Item I, give as much of the two rents as shall keep my sd. cozen at school as many years as his mother shall think fitt.

      Item, I give unto my friend William Brown's son William Browne three years of schooling to be paid out the rents of my land.

      Item, I give and bequeath unto Richard Yroe all my working tools-

      Item, I give and bequeath to Walter Brown a young heifer-

      Item, I give and bequeath unto my cozen John Higdon all my cattle, hogs, horses & bedding, but in case my said cozen should die before he arrives to the age of twenty then my will is that Original Wroe son of- John Wroe to have the half of my personal estate and the other half I give unto Walter Brown- I will ordain & appoint my two living friends Capt. Augustine Washington & William Brown my true & whole and sole Exre of this my last will & testament revoking annulling of all wills & testaments before made by me- Witness my hand & seal this 16th day of Janry. 1725-

      THIS INDENTURE made the Twenty seventh day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred & thirty four Between JOHN BROWN & WILLIAM BROWN of Parish of Washington in County of Westmorland, Sons of DAVID BROWN, late of the County aforesaid, deceased, of one part and ORIGINAL WROE of the same Parish & County of other part; Witnesseth that JOHN & WILLIAM BROWN in consideration of the sum of five shillings to them in hand paid by ORIGINAL WROE, the receipt whereof they do hereby acknowledge, have and by these presents do bargain & sell unto ORIGINAL WROE all that parcell of Land situate in Parish of Washington and County of Westmorland containing by estimation One hundred acres of Land; Begining at a Pohickory standing in the back line of Mrs. ANN BARNERD and extending along the line of the said BARNERD for the breadth so in this course as the Land may have three other courses proportionable in length & breadth to this course; tuning thence towards the Beaver Dams belonging to a Creek called ROSIERs CREEK, runing thence parrallel to the first course to the Land of FRANCIS GREY, then up the line of said GREY to the first mentioned begining; Together with all houses water courses advantages and appurtenances belonging; the Land is part of three hundred and forty acres of Land granted DAVID BROWN and MARY his Wife by Patent in the year one thousand six hundred and sixty two or thereabouts and was by DAVID BROWN given to his two Sons, JOHN and WILLIAM BROWN by Will bearing date the Eight day of July in year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and twenty seven by vertue of which Will the Land came and descended to JOHN and WILLIAM BROWN; To have and to hold the land and premises with appurtenances unto ORIGINAL WROE his heirs, during the term of one year paying therefore the Rent of one year of Indian Corn on the Birth day of our Lord God next ensuing if lawfully demanded to the intent that by vertue of these presents & by force of the Statute for transfering uses into possession ORIGINAL WROE may be in actual possession of the premises and be thereby enabled to take a Release of the inheritance thereof; In Witness whereof JOHN BROWN and WILLIAM BROWN have hereunto set their hands and seals the day month and year first above written

      First, I give and bequeath to my Eldest Son, SAML. WHITE, that land and plantation whereon FRANCIS SETTLE now lives but not to his heirs unless all my other three Children, to wit, JOHN, JENNY and SUSANNAH should all die before him, the said land to be delivered to my said Son, SAML., by his Mother at her discretion; Also I give to my said Son, SAML., one good feather bed and furniture and one young Cow & Calf /carried over/ Then all my other Estate of what nature or kind soever I give to be equally divided amongst my other three Children, JOHN, JENNY & SUSANNAH WHITE, after my Wife's decease or before at her discretion after first taking therefrom one young Horse called Jumper, which I give to my Son, JOHN.
