      Ex. sons, Lawrence, Hay, Francis and John Taliaferro.

      Leg. daughter, Anne Hay Brooke, land and plantation in Spotsylvania, whereon she now lives, which I purchased of Thomas Turner, of King George County, Gentl. and Thomas Turner and Mary his wife, late of Spotsylvania;

      daughter Elizabeth Taliaferro, 1,000 acres of land in Orange County, formerly Spotsylvania, granted to me by my deced. brother, John Taliaferro, by patent dated Sept. 28, 1728;

      son, Lawrence Taliaferro, all my estate, both real and personal, in Caroline County, also 1,200 acres of land and two plantations in Orange County, it being one moiety of 2,400 acres taken up by my father, Lawrence Taliaferro, and my uncle, John Taliaferro, and adjoining the land where William Taliaferro now lives;

      son Hay Taliaferro, estate in King George County, and 2,000 acres of land in Orange County, 1,000 acres thereof purchased by my now deced. brother, John Taliaferro, of Richard and William Taliaferro, and the other 1,000 acres purchased by me of Thomas Smith;

      son Francis Taliaferro, land and plantation whereon I now live in Spotsylvania, and to hold the same according to the division made between me and my brother John Taliaferro, deced. also 1,000 acres of land in Orange County, it being one moiety of land which was patented by my brother John Taliaferro, deced. and divided between us;

      son, John Taliaferro, my land and plantation in Spotsylvania, whereon my brother, John Taliaferro lived, also 1,000 acres of land in Orange County, being the other moiety of the aforesaid mentioned 2,000 acres, and is that part whereon Nicholas Christopher lived; brother, William Taliaferro; Elizabeth and Anne Battaley, the two daughters of my friend Moseley Battaley.

      Codicil to the above dated Feb. 25, 1757, witnessed by Robert Jackson, John Catlett and Thomas Catlett, recites "the testator of this will hath disposed of some estate in his possession belonging to my brother William Taliaferro (which I claim as heir apparent to him) to several of my children, he the said William being found an idiot by a jury convened for that purpose summoned and sworn and their report recorded among the records of Spotsylvania Co. Court." (Page 343)

      i. Lawrence Brooke was born 23 Aug 1758 in Smithfield, Stafford Co. VA, and died ABT 1803. He married Frances Alexander, daughter of John Alexander and Lucy Thornton. She was born 22 Aug 1758 in Stafford Co. VA.

      ii. Robert Brooke was born 1761, and died 27 Feb 1800. He married Mary Ritchie 1786, daughter of Andrew Archibald Ritchie and Mary Roane.

      iii. Elizabeth Brooke was born ABT 1765 in Smithfield, Spotsylvania Co. VA, and died 22 Aug 1800 in VA. She married Fontaine Maury 18 Nov 1785, son of James Maury and Mary Walker. He was born 3 Feb 1761 in Albmarle Co. VA, and died 1 Jan 1814 in Fredericksburg, Stafford Co. VA.

      iv. John Taliaferro Brooke was born 27 Aug 1763 in Smithfield, Fredericksburg, Virginia, and died 1822 in Milvale, Stafford Co. WV. He married Anne Mercer Selden, daughter of Samuel Selden and Sarah Anne Mason Mercer. She was born 21 Jun 1738, and died 26 Jul 1806.

      v. Francis Taliaferro Brooke was born 27 Aug 1763 in Smithfield, Spotsylvania Co. VA, and died 3 Mar 1851 in Nottingham Co. VA. He married Mary Randolph Spotswood 3 Oct 1791 in Smithfield, Isle of Wight Co. VA, daughter of Alexander Spotswood II and Elizabeth Washington. She was born 19 Jun 1775 in New Post, Spotsylvania Co. VA, and died 5 Jan 1803 in St. Julien, Spotsylvania Co. VA. He married Mary Champe Carter 13 Feb 1804 in Fredericksburg, Virginia, daughter of Edward Hill Carter and Sarah Champe. She was born 1778 in Blenheim, Albemarle Co. VA, and died 25 Oct 1846 in St. Julian, Spotsylvania Co. VA.

      June 24, 1753. Thomas Turner of King Geo. County, Gent., and Thomas Turner, the younger, of Spts. County, Gent., and Mary, his wife, to Francis Taliaferro of Spts. County, Gent. 1150 ster. 500 a. in Spts. County, near adjoining the sd. Taliaferro, part of a tract sold by Wm. Smith, late of Abingdon Par., Gloucester County, unto John Grayson, late of Christ Church Par., Lancaster County, Decd., as by deeds, in General Court, April 22, 1714, which sd. land descended to Thomas Grayson, late of Deal, in Kent County, in Great Britain, from his father, the sd. John Grayson, Decd., who died intestate, and was by the sd. Thomas Grayson conveyed to the sd. Thomas Turner of King Geo. County, Gent., as by Deeds, Jany. 27, 1727. Witnesses, Rd. Brooke, Edward Dixon, James Tutt, Robt. Brooke, jr.; Hy. Brooke, jr.; John Catlett, Lawrence Taliaferro. July 3, 1753.

      TALIAFERRO, JOHN, Spotsylvania Co., Gentl. Nuncupative Will. Deposition of William Robinson, of Spots. Co., Gentl., aged 43 years. Deposeth and saith that on Dec. 25, 1750, he was at the house of John Taliaferro, who was very ill of white sickness, and that the same day he died, and that three or four hours before his death he called his brother Francis Taliaferro, of said Co., Gentl., and declared to his said brother to let his sister Brooke have 200 that Christopher Robinson at Urbanna owed him, and for the said Francis to raise another 100 and let her have it; then said John told said Francis that all of the rest of his estate he left to him, the said Francis, etc. Said Robinson made oath to the above at Court held for Spots. Co., Sept. 3, 1751. (Page 80)
