      IN THE NAME OF GOD Amen, I CORNELIUS NOELL being sick & weak in body but of sound & perfect memory blessed & praised be Almighty God for ye same, do make & ordaine this to be my last Will & Testamt., in manner & forme following: First & principally I comend my Soul into the hands of Almighty God who gave it hopeing by ye meritorious death & passion of ye blessed Lord & Saviour Jesus Christ to receive full pardon & forgiveness of all my sins and a joyful! resurrection at ye last day As for my body, I comitt it to ye ground to be decently & Christianly buried at ye discretion of my Executrix hereafter named; As for ye worldly goods that God hath lent me I dispose of in manner & forme following: Vizt.
      Imprimis. I give & bequeath ye Land & Plantacon where I now live both free Land & Copeehold with all that appurtenances thereunto belonging unto my loveing Wife, ELIZABETH NOELL dureing her natural life & after her decease unto my Son. CORNELIUS NOELL & his heirs;
      Item. I give & bequeath unto my Son, JAMES NOELL, that tract or parcel' of Land commonly known or called by ye name of NEW HOLLAND and if it shall please God that my sd. Son do die without heirs, then I give the said Land unto my Daughter, ELIZABETH NOELL;
      Item. I give & bequeath unto my Daughter, ELIZABETH NOELL, that tract or peice of Land between ye old feild and JOHN ANDERSONs joining on JNO ANDERSON by computacon One hundred acres to her & her heirs;

      Cornelius Noell, a Protestant who was born in Holland, was living on the Rappahannock River in Virginia in 1686. [Forks of Elkhorn Church, Ermina Jett Darnell, Standard Printing Company, Louisville, 1946.] Cornelius Nowell was transported to Virginia by Thomas Panell before 26 September 1668 when Panell obtained a patent for 646 acres of land in Rappahannock County on the south side of the river, about four miles from the waterside, adjoining Mrs. Beheathland Gilson.

      Coppin and Cornelius Noell were in jovnt tennancy and held togeather 550 acres being the one halfe parte of 1100 acres first pattented by Henry Jarman, William Coppin, John Powell and Cornelius Noell. Cornelius
      Noell, alien, hath sold his part thereof to Richard West and John Warren which was afterwards severall times disposed and sold. William Coppin died seized of his parte and hath neither disposed of the same in his lifetime either by will or other deed nor left any heire in the country who makes claime to the same. For which reasons the whole 550 acres escheats to his Most Sacred Majestie.

Coppin, Henry Jearman and John Powell all and every one of them being of the Parrish of Sittingbourne in the County of Rappa. stand joyntly possessed of a Tract of land contg: 1097 acres and 27 perches Foure miles from the River backwards as by the Pattent thereof more playnely appeareth bearing date the 25th Septembr: 1665 It is granted and agreed uppon by and betweene the partyes abovesd for them & their heires that the said land be divided as Followeth Vizt: Cornelius Noell and Wm. Coppin To Have and To Hold the South side of the said land (Vizt) all and every parte and parcel' cont: in the Pattent on the South side of Occupacon Creeke from Hen: Jearman and Jno. Powell or their heires or assignes unto the said Cornelius Noell and Wm. Coppin or their heires or assignes Vizt. from a marked Maple South to a Chesnutt thence So: West 160 perches to a red oake thence W:N:W: 640 perches to a popler by a branch side thence to a red oake to a line of marked trees the said Cornelius Noell and Wm.       KNOW ALL MEN by these presents that I SAMUEL WARD of the Parish of Sittingbourn in the County of Rappa being of good & perfect mind and without fraud or deceipt for the love good will and affection wch I have and beare towards my Friend MARY NOELL Daughter of CORNELIUS NOELL of the Parish and County aforesaid have given granted and confirmed unto the abovesd MARY NOELL two hundred acres of land to hir and hir heirs or assigns forever the said land being part of a tract of three hundred fifty two acres abovesaid two hundred acres being part thereof and formerly taken up by NICHOLAS BURKETT deceased as will appear by a Pattent in the Secretaries Office according to the antient lawful bounds thereof & Escheated by DAVID FAULKNER of Major JOHN WEIRE Escheater for the sd County as may further appear by an Inquisition recorded in the Secretaries Office under the hand and seal of Major JOHN WEIRE dated the 4th of November 1668 and since purchased of the said FAULKNER by me SAMUEL WARD the said land adjoyning to the land of CORNELIUS NOELL now Resident neare POPOMAN CREEK or Branch according to the antient bounds of the abovesaid 200 acres as may appeare by a Bill of Saile from the sd FAULKNER bearing date the 4th of November 1672 and recorded in the Records of Rappa and further I the said WARD doe hereby freely tolerate & allow that the said CORNELIUS NOELL may & shall if he sees fit occupy and make sale of any part of the abovesd specified 200 acres during his naturall life moreover the said land with all rights and priviledges as is expressed in a Pattent at large dated the llth of October 1670 I doe hereby give fully and freely as above expressed peaceably and quietly without any manner of Reclaime challenge or Contradiction of and from me SAMUEL WARD or of any other persons by any means and with out any account, reckoning or answer therefore to me or any in my name to be given or done in time to come so that neither I the said WARD nor any other persons at any time hereafter may claime or demand in or to the premises or any part thereof and in case the abovesaid MARY NOELL shall dye without having any heirs

      KNOW ALL MEN by these presents that I NICHOLAS FRANCKLIN of ye County of RAPPA: & Parish of Sittingbourne do for a valuable consideration in hand received, sell unto JOHN HACKLEY of ye County & Parish aforesd., his heirs a parcell of land by estimation seventy acres more or less lyeing in ye County of RAPPA: and Parish of Sittingbourne on ye South side of ye River on OCCUPACEE RUN, beginning at a red Oake by ye Runn side, thence running Easterly under ye hills to a white Oake being a corner tree of EDWARD MOSELEYs, thence South by a line of marked trees of EDWARD MOSELEYs to a Pokickory by a branch side, thence down ye branch to a Spanish Oake on ye West side of a branch, thence Westerly crossing a ridge by a line of marked trees to a white Oake by a small branch, thence down ye branch to OCCUPACEE RUN, thence by & upon ye Run to ye red Oake first mentioned, ye sd parcell of land withal! its rights & priviledges To have and to hold from me ye sd NICHOLAS FRANCKLIN my heirs unto him ye sd JOHN HACKLEY his heirs in as large & ample manner to all intents as may be collected out of ye Pattent without ye hindrance or interruption of me ye sd NICHOLAS FRANCKLIN my heirs or assigns or any persons claiming ye rights & service from henceforth In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seale this 14th of November 1689

      KNOW ALL MEN by these presents that I ELIZABETH HACKLEY, ye Wife of JOHN HACKLEY, of ye Parish of Sittingbourne & County of Essex do hereby freely & voluntarily constitute & appoint my true & faithful! friend, CORNELIUS NOEL, my true & lawful! Attorney & do hereby impower my sd Attorney in my name & on my behalfe to give up surrender & resine all my right & interest in a piece of land being in ye Parish & County aforesd. unto WILLIAM BOLWARE his heirs or assignes forever, ratifieing what my said Attorney shall do in ye premisses as if I my selfe were present as witness my hand this 11 day of March 1694

      In pursuance to an Act of Assembly made at JAMES CITY ye 8th day of June in ye 32d year of ye Reign of our Sovereign Lord Charles ye Second of ever blessed memory and in ye year of our Lord 1680 & by ye authority thereof & ye power therein granted, I FRA: LORD HOWARD, Baron of EFFINGHAM, his Majties Lt. & Govr: Genii. of Virga: do by this Publick Instrumt, under my hand & ye Seale of the Colony of Virga: pronounce Publish & deliver CORNELIUS NOELL, borne in HOLLAND, professing ye Protestant Religion & first haveing taken ye Oathes of Allegiance & paid ye fees therein menconed according to ye Tenor of ye sd Act to be fully & compleatly Naturalized and I do hereby fully & compleatly Naturalize him ye sd CORNELIUS NOELL giveing & granting unto him & his heirs forever all & singular ye priviledges and immunities & rights of ye Inhabitants of this Colony of Virga: And that as fully & amply to all intents & purposes wt:soever as if he ye sd CORNELS: NOELL had been borne within this his Majties.
