      KNOW ALL MEN by these presents that wee AMEE ELKINS, GEORGE ALLSUP & BEN: RUSH of ye County of Richmond are held and firmly bound unto ye Worspil, his Maties. Justices of the Peace for ye said County in ye full & just sum of One hundred pounds Sterl. to ye which payment well & truly to be made we bind our selves our heirs firmly by these presents; Sealed with our seals & DAted ye Third day of Aprill 1717 THE CONDITION of this Obligation is such that if ye above bound AMEE ELKINS, Admrx. of ye goods chattles & creditts of JAMES ELKINS deced., do make atrue and perfect Inventory of all the goods chattles & creditts of ye sd: deced., and the same soe made doe exhibits into ye County Court of Richmond at such time as she shall be thereto required by ye sd: Court; And ye same goods chattles & creditts shall well and truly administer according to Law, And further do make a just & true Accott. of her actings & doings therein when thereto required by ye sd: Court and shall deliver and apy unto such p:sons respectively as ye sd.       Between JOSEPH ELKINS, planter, and James Jones, bricklayer. Ellkins sells 250 acres of land, parish of Brunswick: 100 acres part now in tenure by Richard Elkins and 150 acres occupied by Benjamin Rush. signed JOSEPH ELLIKINS. Patent date 9 Feb. 1663 unto Francis Haile & William Heabert.
      pg. 226, Recorded 1 Sept. 1732. The right of dower of Amy, now wife of Benjamin Rush also widow and relict of James Elkins,decd., father of the said Joseph Elkins, granted to Richard Ellkins, father of James, by the Curtesy of England for and during the term of his natural life etc. Witnesses:John Skinner, Richard Owens, Richard Griffis, Wm. x Owens.

"Richard Copley haveing been Com'anded by James Phillips one of the Under Sheriffs of this County to assist him in the apprehanding of one James ELLKINS who for Contempt of Authority was by this Court Ordered to be taken into Custody, the said James Phillips this Da;y made Complaint to this Court that the said Richard Copley not only denyed giveing his Assistance, but alsoe used severall threatening Speeches to him, and likewisae Assaulted and beat him, the said Rich'd Copley appearing but offering materiall to Excuse himself" order that he be fined L 10. Sterl., be imprisoned one month and give security for his good behavior.

ELKINS and MARY, Five young Cows about four or five years old with their future increase after they are to be delivered and a good feather bed and furniture and two brass kettles, the one to hold about thirteen gallons, the other about two, And two Iron potts. the one to hold about five gallons, the other three gallons and a half, And one bell mettle spice mortar and pestle and five pewter dishes, three of the largest size I have, two small, one young breeding mare and a four year old guelding Horse and Two thousand pounds of good sound merchantable Tobo: in cask to he paid for my aforesaid Grandchilds Schooling when it is demanded, Further if I the said XPIAN WILLIAMS will deliver unto the said JAMES ELKINS or to his Guardian when I see fitt all the particulars above mentioned and all the female increase from the time of my pleasure in delivery, but the length of time is, if it be my desire, not till he comes to the age of Twenty and three years and then to have the increase of male & female.       HIS INDENTURE made betwixt JAMES ELKINS of Richmond County of one party and THOMAS JEFFEREYS of aforesd. County of the other party; Wittnesseth that JAMES ELKINS hath demised sett and to farm lett and doth by these presents farme lett part of one hundred acres of land lying in the aforesaid County which was given to me by my Grandfather, EVAN WILLIAMS, in consideration of the rents hereafter mentioned and dureing the terme of two naturall lives of the aforesd. THOMAS JEFFEREYS and SYLENT JEFFEREYS his Wife or longest liver of them together with all the edificies woods and ye tract of land and I the said JAMES ELKINS do give said THOMAS JEFFEREYS leave to seat upon any part or parcell of the said Land onely the Plantation excepted whereon I now live and I the said THOMAS JEFFEREYS do oblige my selfe not to sell nor make no waste of any Timber; To have & to hold the parcell of land with all the appurtenances to said THOMAS JEFFEREYS and SYLENT his Wife dureing their natural! lives paying a yearly rent upon the Twentieth of October Ten pounds of good sound Leafe Tobbo: and one Capon Cock or Pullett to said JAMES ELKINS his heirs and THOMAS JEFFEREYS his Wife to enjoy the said Land peaceably and quietly wth:out the disturbance of me said JAMES ELKINS or my heirs or any person that shall lay any clayme to the said land, As Wittness whereof we have sett our hands and fin our seales the day and yeare above written
