      SNEAD's Will proved The Last Will and Testament of CHARLES SNEAD, deced., was presented in Court by SARAH SNEAD, one of the Executors, who made Oath thereto and being proved by the Oaths of RICHARD CLAXTON and WILLIAM GRIFFIN, two of the witnesses thereto, is admitted to Record, and on motion of the Executor and her performing what is usuall in such cases, Certificate is granted her for obtaining a Probate thereof in due forme
      - SNEAD's Estate to be appraised CHARLES BRUCE, JOHN MORTON, WILLIAM JENINGS and CHARLES SPOE or any three of them sometime between this and the next Court are appointed to appraise all and singular the Estate of CHARLES SNEAD, deced. which shall be presented to their view and make report thereof to the next Court. WILLIAM FANTLEROY Gent., or any other Justice of the Peace for this County, is requested to administer an Oath to the Appraisers for their true appraisment of the Decedent's Estate as also to SARAH SNEAD, one of the Executors, for her true discovery thereof

      KNOW ALL MEN by these prsents that I CHARLES SNEADE, Son of CHARLES SNEADE late of the County of Rappa. deceased, for Two thousand two hundred pounds of good Tobo: in cask to me paid I have sold unto DAVID ENNES of the County aforesaid, Planter, all my right in Fifty acres of land being in the North side of Rappa. River and bounding thereon in the Parrish of Sittingborne and County aforesaid being part of a greater divident wch belongeth and of right appertaineth to me as heire of the said deced CHARLES SNEADE which said land bounded as followeth (vizt) begining at the decent landing and running up that Branch to the uppermost Cherry tree of two and from thence by the Orchard to a PATH that usually goeth by the Dwelling house, thence along the PATH to the outside of the fence and from thence down to FRANCIS TAYLERs PATH and by and nigh the said PATH along to the said TAYLERs Corner tree and down that Branch to the River side and soe facing upon the River to the place it first began; and to hold the said Fifty acres of land to him the said DAVID ENNIS his heirs with all the pvilidges and proffitts belonging with all waters woods and all houses orchards thereunto belonging warranting the same to be free and cleare from the claim of any maner of persons whatsoever (Subject nevertheless to the quitrents wch from henceforth shall be due for the same to or: Soveraigne Lord the King) and the said CHARLES SNEADE doe for me my heirs agree with the said DAVID ENNIS his heirs that I the said CHARLES SNEADE togeather with my Wife, KATE, will acknowledge this Instrument of Writing in the Court of Rapp& within the time fixed by Law upon penalty and forfeiture of Two thousand Two hundred pounds of Tob: & cask In Witness whereof the parties have hereunto sett their hands and affixed their seales this 20th day of Janry, 1683/4

      The Deposition of CHARLES SNEAD aged 40 yeares or thereabouts examined & sworn saith that about ten years since, there was a browne bay colt ranging on ye land of yor: Deponant branded on ye buttock with J F and claimed by Mr. JOHN FOXHALL, which after I ye Deponant took up in regard of his unruliness in ye intrim came Mr. JAMES ORCHARD and tooke ye sd. Colt of yor: Deponant and said he would buy him of ye sd FOXHALL and carried him away, and he after told yor: Deponant to yor: Deponants best remembrance he had bought him of ye sd. FOXHALL, and ye sd. Colt was after branded on ye other buttock with 0 as it did appear but whether there was any letter or marke within it yor: Deponant cannot certainly declare and Mr. ORCHARD had such a branch, and Mr. ELIAS WILSON had ye sd Horse afterwards and told yor: Deponant that he had him of ye sd. ORCHARD, and after Mr. EDWIN CONWAY claymed ye sd. Horse, and he comeing into his old Range vizt. upon yor: Deponants Land, WILLIAM GRIFFIN tooke him up & carried him down to Mr. EDWIN THACKER by Order of ye sd EDWIN CONWAY as ye sd GRIFFIN tells yor: Deponant; which Horse I saw at Essex Court in December last and ye sd. CONWAY there claimed him but one JOHN DOUGHTY as yor: Deponant understood his name did detains ye sd. Horse from ye sd CONWAY & carryed him thence and further saith not

      Also further ordered that the Sheriff of this County or his Deputy do put the said CHARLES SNEAD into quiet and peaceable possession of all & singular the Lands belonging to him the said WILLIAM GRIFFIN and now in the possession of the said THOMAS TURNER to be paid and done with all cost of suit alias Execution

      Deed, 4 Jan 1680. Francis Taylor as marrying with Eliza the Daughter of Charles Snead decd, and Charles Snead son of said Charles Snead, both of Rappahannock Co. planters, sell David Evins [Innis] of same Co., planter, 225 acres on North side of Rappa, part of land given by Charles Snead decd to Thomas and Wm Snead 7 April 1671. The land adjoins that of Hawkins Snead. Both wives to relinq dower rights.
