THIS INDENTURE made the Twentyeth day of March one thousand seven hundred and Twenty one Between WILLIAM BROCKENBROUGH of one part & WILLIAM CALLIS of Parish of Farnum and County of Richmond of other part: Witnesseth that WILLIAM BROCKENBROUGH in consideration of Five Shills: of lawfull money of England to me in hand paid by WILLIAM CALLIS , by these presents bargaine and sell unto WILLIAM CALLIS his heirs all that parceH of land from the mouth of a Great Swamp known by the name of ye HERINGW ARE SW AMP, extending up the sd. s·w·amp to the head thereof. thence crossing the levill to the line that devides ye land of ye sd , WILLIAM BROCKENBROUGH and RICHARD DUDLEY. deced .. such a corse or corses as shall include 240 acres within the said bounds, thence down the said line to its course to the Creek. thence. up the Creek to the place where it first begun, ye parcell of land
containing Two hundred and Forty acres sittuate in ye Parish of Farnum and County of Richmond and nov in the tenure and occupation of WILLIAM CALLIS. lying on the head ofTOTUSKEY & on ye West side thereof; with all houses orchards and comodities; To have and to hold the parcell of land and ye premises unto WILLIAM CALLIS his heirs dureing the time of one whole year next ensueing paying yearly the rent of one ear of Indian Corne one ye first day of ye Birth of our Lord God next ensueing if lawfully demanded to the intent yt by vertue of these presents and or the Statute for transferring

in hand paid by WILLIAM CALLIS by these presents doth bargaine sell and release unto
WILLIAM CALLIS Un hi~ actua11 possession now being by virtue of a Bargaine and Sale
to him thereof made for one whole yeare and by force of a Statute for transferring uses
into possession) and to his heirs all yt. parcell of land containing Two hundred and
Forty acres (t.he bounds are repeat.ed as in the Lease above); ye parcell of land being part of a
Pattent formerly ~ranted to WM. BARBER deced .. and by him devised to Capt. CHARLES

County of WESTMORELAND of ye one parte and JOHN EFFORD of Richmond County
a.nd Northfarnham Parish of ye other parte: Witnesseth yt. ye sd. WILLIAM CALLIS in
consideration of Five shillings of lawfull money of England to me in hand paid by JOHN
EFFORD, by these presents bargain and sell unto JOHN EFFORD his heirs all that parcel!
of land from the mouth of a great Swamp known by the name of the HERRINGW AIR

of Nine thousand pounds of good tobo: to him in hand paid, by these presents
doth bargain and sell unto JOHN EFFORD (in his actual! possession now being by vertue
of a bargain and sale to him thereof made for one whole year and by force of the
Statute for transferring uses into possession.: and to his heirs all that parce11 of land
wntaining Two hundred and fourty acres (the bounds of the Jana repeated as in the Lease);
and being part of a Pattent formerly granted to WM. BARBER deced .. and by him devised
unto Capt. CHARLES BARBER a.nd was by Exchange of ye CHARLES BARBER made over to
AUSTIN BROCKENBROUGH. deced., and was by ye Last Will and Testamt. of ye sd . AUSTIN
BROCKENBROUGH. given to WM. BROCKENBROUGH and by ye sd. WILLIAM BROCKENBROUGH
sold to WM. CALLIS by Deeds bareing date ye Twenty first day of March 1721
with all its rights members and appurtenances; To have and to hold the parcel! of land
and all other the premises unto JOHN EFFORD his heirs to be holden of the Cheif Lord or
Lords of the fee or Fees of ye said premises by Rents & Services for the same due and of
right a.~~usttJmed to be paid; free and dear from all Incumbrances; And WM. CALLIS his
heirs the parcell of land unto JOHN EFFORD his heirs agst. all persons shall warrant and
