Charles County, Maryland Liber L#2, Page 456. At the request of John King of CC, the following conveyance was recorded this Jan 17, 1728.
Dec 24, 1728 from Mark Lampt on of St Mary's County, Gent to John King of CC, Gent. By a certain inquisition indented dated Jun 8, 1676, taken by Stone and Thomas Hussey, late of CC, Gent, decd, by virtue of a writ of mandamus, issued out of the High Court of Chan ery of Maryland, it was found that a certain John Hutchinson late of CC, decd, at the time of his death, owned a parcel of land called Woodberrys Harbour, lying at Nanjemy [Cr] in CC, containing 300 acres and by the same inquisition, it appeared that the same Jno Hutchinson died intestate and withour heir and on reading the inquisition at Provincial Court held Dec 1, 1676, it was by the Justices of that Court then adjudged that the parcel of land afd was escheat to his Lordship for want of heir.: On Apr 19, 1677, his Lordship, by his Letters Patents did grant the afd parcel of land t o John Fanning, late of CC decd, as by patent dated the d ay and year last afd. Sd John Fanning by his CC deed of Dec 27, 1679, conveyed the land to Nathaniel Veren of New England, merchant. A certain George Brent, late of Stafford County, Virginia, decd, by virtue of a power of attorney from Timothy Lindal of Salem [MA] in New England, and Mary, his wife, sole heiress of the afd Nathaniel Vecen, did, for and on behalf of his constituents, convey the afd lands unto Philip Lines, late of CC, Gent, decd, by deed dated Jun 3, 1697, recorded in the Provincial Court records (together with the power of attorney afd and an authentic testimonial from New England of the sd Mary, she being the sole heiress of the afd Nathaniel Veren) Liber WC folio 787-789. Sd Philip Lines, by his deed dated Sep 20, 1697, conveyed the lands by CC deed (Liber W folio 13-15) to a certain Mark Lampton, late of CC, decd, grandfather to the afd Mark, party to these presents. On the death of the afd Mark, the land and premises became the right of Mark Lampton, son of the afd Mark, grandfather of the afd Mark, party to these presents, by whose death all the lands before mentioned descended to & became the proper estate of inheritance of sd Mark Lampton first above mentioned. Now this deed further witnesses that the afd Mark Lampton, for 100 £sterling to him in hand paid by the afd John King, and for divers other good causes, afd Mark Lampton sells to the sd John King, all that tract of land afd called Woodberrys Harbour, lying on the north side of sd doneart river, being near to a marsh in sd river commonly called the halfway tree between Maryland Point and the mouth of Nanjemy Cr or river, containing, as by patdent afd, about 300 acres. Signed - Mark Lampton. Wit - Rich Bell, Walter Hanson, John Fendall*, Geo Dent*.
