      I, William Burtles of CC, am in perfect, sound, and disposing mind and memory but weak in body.
      To my son William Burtles - Negro fellows called Charles and Ben.; also 20 cattle, 2 horses and a mare and colt, 28 swine; 4 beds and furniture, S pewter dishes and 16 pewter plates, 1 iron pot, & 1 dutch oven, 4 pewter basins, 6 flagged chairs, 1 large chest & 3 small ones, 1 oval table, 8 delft plates. William is to give my daughter Ann Mudd 1 good gown & 1 good petticoat, and he is to find me all necessaries such as food & raiment, suitable for a person of my age and condition.
      To my daughter Molsey Simms - 1 cow and calf and 1 large pewter dish and 1 small.
      To my son William - the corn and tobacco in the house this day, Apr 13, 1788.
      To my sons Andrew Burtles & Benjamin Burtles, and my daughters Susanna Simms, Eleanor Higdon, Sarah Simpson
      - 5 shillings each.
      Executor: my son William.
      Signed - William (X his mark) Burtles. Wit - Peter Walker, Martin Wathen.
      Probated May 4, 1789 by executor William Burtles Jr, and by the oaths of witnesses Peter Waker [sic] and Martin Wathen.
      From the best information, Adrew [sic] Burtles, the heir at law, is a resident of Montgomery County & therefore was not present when the above probate was taken. Certified by John Muschett, Regr of Wills.

Jan 1, 1772 from Joseph, Marmaduke, Ignatius, & Francis Simms, sons of Francis Simms, late of CC, decd, to Christopher Haw of CC, Gentleman, for 400 a tract of land on the north side of Zachia Swamp in CC, being part of a tract of land commonly called Charles Borough, bounded by Westwood Manor, the 2nd bound tree of the land Charles Love lived on, containing about 100 acres. Signed - Joseph Simms, Marmaduke (X his mark) Simms, Ignatius Simms, Francis Simms. Wit - Jno Winter*, Geo Dent*. Elizabeth, Susana, Sabrid, & Mary Simms, the wives of the sd Joseph, Marmaduke, Ignatius, and Francis Simms, relinquished their right of dower to sd land. Recorded Jan 10, 1772.
