      Charles County Maryland Will Book AH-9, 1785-1788; Page 188. Doct Walter H. Jenifer's Will.
      I, Walter Hanson Jenifer of CC, am of sound and disposing mind, memory, and understanding, and wanting to settle my worldly affairs, make this, my will. First l want my debts and funeral charges paid.
      To my wife Ann Jenifer - in fee simple, all that undivided moiety of 1000 acres of land lying in Fauquier County, Virginia, deeded by Daniel McCarty and Sinalse McCarty to Peter Waggoner and myself as tenants in common, as may more fully appear by to sd deed. I also give Ann, during her natural life, all that lot of ground lying in Port Tobacco, on which a small dwelling house and my stable now stand, I also give Ann the following Negroes: John and his wife Jonny and their 2 children, Tom and Sal, and a Negro called Spencer and a Negro called Hannah, and also Sam and Betty, children of Monaky, and a Negro man called Tom. I also give Ann my phaeton and my 3 bay horses, and also 1 moiety of my household and kitchen furniture, the plate excepted. also give Ann one moiety of all my debts due me after my debts and charges of administration are paid.
      To my brother Daniel Jenifer - my store house in Port Tobacco and now in the occupation of Nicholas and Valentine Peers, together with all the appurtenances thereunto belonging. Also, lot #60 in Portobacco, and now in the occupation of Richard Butler. Also, all my lands to the Westward of Fort Cumberland, which I hold as tenant in common with John Swann, Merchant in Baltimore, and George Scott, merchant in Frederick Town, provided the sd Daniel Jenifer pays the caution money now due on the sd lands and does not bring it as a charge against my estate. I also give Daniel the following Negroes: Phil otherwise called Ophillow, Manoky his wife, and their 3 children, Clarissa, John, and Phil, and a man called Phil whom I lately purchased of Mr, William Hanson. Also, I moiety of my household & kitchen furniture, and also the whole of my Shop and Library, and one moiety of the debts due me after my debts and charges of administration are paid, sd Daniel making the following deductions: the balances due me by Col. McCarty, Daniel McCarty, and Peter Waggoner, which sd balances I give to my wife Ann, over and above her moiety of the debts before bequeathed to her. I also give Daniel my shares in the Patowmack Company. Also my 2 breeding mares and their 2 colts.
      To my brother Warren Dent Jenifer - a pair of good young riding horses and 30 guineas, to be furnished him by my executors when he arrives to the age of 21 years,
      To my father Daniel Jenifer Sr - all my wearing apparel, all my stock of work horses, cattle, hogs, and sheep, excepting the hogs for the present year's killing.
      Also all my plantation utensils. I want my father always to act as a tender and kind parent to my wife Ann,
      To my good friend, Doctor James Craik Sr - all the debts remaining due me on the partnership books of Craik and Jenifer, and all the debts due to me from sd James Craik on any account, whether our partnership or private account.
      I want my private papers taken out of the hands of James Russell as soon as possible after my death, by my executors, and my accounts settled with him, making him reasonable allowance for his services.

Aug 8, 1785 from Walter Hanson Jenifer of CC, Physician, to John Gwinn of CC, for 150 and for other good causes, part of lot #59 in Charles Town commonly called Port Tobacco, which formerly belonged to Cunninghame and Company otherwise called Cunninghame Findlay and Company, and by sd Walter Hanson Jenifer purchased from the Commissioners of Confiscated British Property, as by a CC deed to sd Jenifer, and being now in the possession of the sd John Gwinn, bounded by the north corner of the "piazar" of the sd Jenifer's storehouse, the house now in the possession of the sd John Gwinn, the wing of the sd Jenifer's house.       Whereas I, Daniel Jenifer of CC, did heretofore, by deed of gift, convey to my dear son, Walter Hanson Jenifer (late decd), lot #60 in Charles Town commonly called Port Tobacco, Commonly called the Stable Lott, and whereas after the sd deed of gift was executed, Thomas Hopewell and Thomas Reeder did bring an ejectment to recover sd lot, and whereas I did, after sd ejectment was served, promise my sd dear son to convey to him another lot in sd Town, & being the lot that purchased of Capt John Mitchell (adjoining to Mr. Robt Fergusson's lot) to indemnify him for any expense he might be put to in defending the sd suit or in settling the same by compromise, and whereas my sd son having reliance on my promise, did, by his will, devise the sd lot to his beloved wife, Ann Jenifer, during her natural life, now know that I, Daniel Jenifer of CC, for the great regard and affection have for my daughter, Ann Jenifer, have given her, during her natural life, all that lot which I purchased of Capt John Mitchell, so as to include a small dwelling house, the stable, carriage house, and the house in which Sarah Smith now resides, but not encroach on the back street farther than where the post and rail fence now run. To have and to hold, sd lot to sd Ann, and after her death, to have and to hold, the same, to my son Daniel Jenifer, forever. Signed Feb 4, 1786 - Dan Jenifer.       Charles County Land Records 1782-1786; Liber Z#3; Page 252. Apr 3, 1786 from Ann Jenifer of CC, to Daniel Jenifer Jr of CC. Whereas Daniel Jenifer Sr of CC, by CC deed dated last Feb 4, conveyed a lot of land which he, sd Daniel Jenifer, purchased of Capt John Mitchell, so as to include a small dwelling house, the stable, carriage house, and the house in which Sarah Smith now resides, but not to encroach on the back street farther than where the post and rail fence now run, to sd Ann Jenifer for life, with remainder unto sd Daniel jenifer Jr in fee simple, and the parties to these presents have come to agreement to divide the sd lot and that the sd Ann Jenifer convey to sd Daniel Jenifer Jr, a fee simple estate in one part thereof, supposed to be one moiety thereof, and that the sd Daniel Jenifer jr convey to sd Ann Jenifer a fee simple estate in the other part thereof, supposed to be one moiety thereof. Therefore, this deed witnesses that the sd Ann Jenifer grants to sd Daniel Jenifer Jr, all that part of the afd lot, supposed to be one moiety thereof, being the northward part thereof, and on which now stands a stable, carriage house, and a small tenement. And Ann Jenifer gets the southward part of the lot, on which now stands a small dwelling house or store house.       At the request of Humphrey Barnes, the following Deed was recorded December 11, 1810
      Indenture made October 6, 1810; John McClenachan {McClanahan} and Ann McClenachan of Prince William County, Virginia inconsideration of $531 current money of the United States paid by Humphrey Barnes have sold a moiety half part of a lot lying in Charles Town commonly called Port Tobacco, conveyed by Daniel Jenifer to Ann Jenifer (now Ann McClenachan) as by deed of partition bearing date April 3, 1786. Signe John McClenachan, Ann McClenachan in the presence of and acknowledged before Edmund Brooke, Matthew Whiting, JP's for Prince William County, Virginia
      Maryland, Charles County Sct; to Matthew Whiting and Edmund Brooke, of Prince William County, Virginia hare commissioned to take the acknowledgments of John McClenachan and Ann McClenachan in the aforesaid deed. John Mackall Gantt, Esquire, Chief Judge, of the 1st judicial district on August 31, 1810
