      Charles County Land Record Book S#3, 1770-1775; Page 544. Bill of Sale. Feb 28, 1774 from Bennett Wheatly of CC, planter, to William Clagett of CC, merchant, for providing a way and method for payment of a debt due by him to John Glassford & Co, merchants, by his bond dated today, or so far as the goods and chattels herein after mentioned will extend, and for 5 shillings, Wheatly releases to Clagett, 1 roan mare, a pair of flesh forks, 1 bay horse, 11 hogs, 1 feather bed & furniture, 1. pine chest, 1 walnut table, 6 knives and forks, 6 pewter plates, and 2 dishes, and all my crop of tebaeee I or mine made last year on the plantation I now live on, belonging to my father, and everything I am possessed of at this time. To have and to hold to sd Clagett, under the special confidence that sd Clagett shall, as soon as possible, sell the afd items at public sale, and with the money received, pay sd John Glassford & Co, and pay any overplus to sd Wheatley.
