      hereof Ann Harrison wid' is a freewoman and by Gods assistance is bound to Potomacke river in Maryland about her busines As witnes my hand this 15th of Aprill 1652 George Stephen

      p.14. "Mr Stephens his Ire to Tho Youlle:
      Mr Youell my love remembered unto you unknowne
      I understand by your letter That Ann Harrison my servant hath contracted her selfe to one Mr Wells for two yeares to serve him which is quite contrary to my express chardge and order for although I gave her a Cer't to pass to Mr Simpson to Potomacke to acquitt her for being taken for a Runaway and soe be stopt in her way at least being gone without her masters consent It did not thereby any way give her liberty to inthraule her self in bondes through the care I had of her to any other for I had tolde her she neither should nor by law could make any contraot in any kinde till her first Indenture was expired whioh said Indenture is not expired till Christmas next come twelve month next ensueing Therefore I doe desire you soe farr forth as I may a stranger to acquaint Mr Paul Simpson of the matter and to require the letter that I sent him by the said Ann Harrison and tell him that my request is that he will preforme my desires to him in that behalf'e And I doe by theise presendts order and impower Mr Simpson againe that the said Ann Harrison shall no way Act any thing touching bindeing or obleidgeing her selfe but by his consent aooording to my former letter to him in that kinde Thus haveing no more at presendt but my love to you and my respects to Mr Simpson I rest Yours to Command
