Know all men by these presents that we Wm. Presly
and Elizabeth Newman of the County of Northumberland
for diverse good causes and valuable considerations we
there unto moving have bargained and sold and do by these
presents bargain and sell and make sale of unto Andrew
Cotterell and Walter Dun and to either of them their heirs,
extrs, admtrs and assignees forever a parcel of land
beginning at the mouth ofa pond and adjoining to the land
that was formerly sold to Richard Iland by Robert Newman
deceased and so running Northerly along Potomack
Riverside unto a mouth of a little creek and so running and
bounding along and upon the said creekside up to the head
of the Southern Branch of the said creek the creek below
towards the mouth dividing the land of Daniel Holland from
this land towards the head of it divides the landof Sam'll
Nicholls from this land and so running due South upon a
line of marked trees due South up to a marked white oak
marked on four equal sides standing upon the side of a
branch that divides the land of Sam'll Nicholls from the land
of Robert Smith so running along the said valleys side that
divides this land from the land of Robert Smith and running
down and bounding upon the said creekside untill it meets
with the marked tree of the fifty acres of land formerly sold
to Robert Smith that stands at the head of the valley, and so
running Northeast along the said marked trees down to the
path that. comes to the house of the said Andrew Cotterell
and Walter Don and so running along the said path untill
they come to a Pokebery tree that stands at the head of the
pond and so running down the Southeast side of the said
pond to the place where it first began which said tract of
land as aforesaid we the said Wm. Presly and Elizabeth
Newman our heirs, extrs, admtrs do warrent to the said
Andrew Cotterell and Walter Dun and to their heirs, extrs,
admtrs and assignees forever with all manner of profits
commodities and beredetaments therein contained provided
that they the said Andrew and Walter or their heirs, extrs,
admtrs etc. or whosoever shall or may make use of or
manner the said land shall from time to time and all times so
often as it shall lawfully demanded pay what quit rent or
imposition as shall be due for the holding of the said
apportion of land, In witness whereof we the said Wm.
Presly and Elizabeth Newman have hereunto set our hands
this 11th of July 1657.
