      KNOW ALL MEN by these pnts that we THOMAS CHETWOOD Gent & JNO. ROSSER Planter doe owe and stand justly indebted unto JOHN CURTIS of the County of LANC. Gent in the just and full sume of Tenn thousand pounds of good Sound Merchantable leafe Tobo in Caske to be paid to the sd JOHN CURTIS his certaine Attorney out of the first Issues or Proffitts to be raised uppon the sale of a Certaine Devident or pcell of land scituate lying and being in the County of Rappa. Between JINGOTEAGE and NANZEMOND fomerly in difference but now Released by the sd JOHN CURTIS to the sd THOMAS CHITWOOD and JOHN PROSSER and their heires to the wch paymt well and truly to be made wee bind ourselves and either of us or. heires. Gent and THOMAS CHETWOOD Gent and JOHN PROSSER planter touching concerning a Devidt. or parcell of land scituate lying and being in the County and Freshes of RAPPA, Betweene GINGOTEAGUE and NANZEMOND wch said Difference are composed agreed and to the desired contents of all ptyes fully and wholly determined and ended Betweene us NOW KNOW ALL MEN by these pnts that I JOHN CURTIS have Remised Released and for Ever quit claymed and by these doe for me my heires release and for ever quit clayme unto the said THOMAS CHETWOOD and JNO. PROSSER their heires for Evermore all my right title interest Clayme and Demand of and to the sd Devidt. or pcell of land cont. Three thousand acres or thereabouts and I hereby oblige my selfe my heires in the penall sum of Tenn thousand pounds of good sound Merchantable leafe Tobo in Caske to be paid to the said THOMAS CHETWOOD and JOHN PROSSER their heires or assignes that ANN CURTIS my Wife shall release and relinquish her Right and Dower to the land above menconed. Witnesseth that said Richard Robinson & Anne his Wife out of the Paternal' affection that they have and beare to ye said John Curtis Sonne of the said Anne & for diverse other good & weighty causes Hath granted in maner following That is to say that they the said Richard Robinson and Anne his Wife have given unto the said John Curtis his heires all that tract of land in RAPPAHANNOCK COUNTIE on the South side of the River of Rappa. comonly called & Known by ye name of MOONES MOUNT containing Two thousand five hundred acres of land according to a Patent thereof granted to Mr. ABRAHAM MOONE beareing date the Sixth day of February 1654 To Hold the sd Land according to ye bounds thereof expressed in the before mentioned Patent thereof and under the expressed Conditions from us the sd: Richard Robinson & Anne Robinson our heirs & him the sd John Curtis

      THIS INDENTURE made the one and twentieth day of Jany. in year of our Lord one thousand six hundred eighty and eight and in the thirty fourth yeare of the Reigne of our Sovereigne Lord James the second by the grace of God of England Scotland France and Ireland &c. Between JOHN CURTIS of County of NORTHUMBERLAND Gent. of one partie and CHRISTOPHER ROBINSON of County of MIDDLESEX Gent. of other part Witnesseth that sd JOHN CURTIS for One hundred and ten pounds Sterling money to him in hand paid by XPHER ROBINSON before the sealing and delivery hath sold and confirmed firmly and absolutely unto CHRISTOPHER ROBINSON his heirs all that tract of land conteyning Two thousand Five hundred acres of land be the same more or less or the whole quantitie contained within the bounds of the Patent granted for the same to Mr. ABRAHAM MOONE bearing date the 6th day of September Ana 1684 and situate and being on the South side the Rappa River in the Freshes of the sd River being in Rappa. County and is commonly called or known by the name of MOON W(blot) Begining to be measured at the mouth of a Creek or Swamp commonly called HENSIN SWAMP adjoining to the lands now in the possession of Mr. JOHN or GEORGE HASLEWOOD and contayned within the several! bounds and distances in the said Patent menconed Together with all Plantations houses fences cleared ground woods waters privilidges and appurtinances to the same and all the right wch he the sd JOHN CURTIS might have to the above menconed bargained and sold premises which sd tract of land is lawfully descended and come to him sd JOHN CURTIS, he as Son and heire of ANN, Relict and Exx, of the before mentioned ABRAHAM MOONE, who did by his last Will and Testament devise the sd premises to the sd ANN and her heires forever Exc(blot) always out of the sd Tract of land Three hundred acres of land bargained and sold by JOHN CURTIS to ANDREW JACKSON to bee taken out of the lower side of sd Tract of land and runs backward the full bredth of the same according to the grant thereof to sd JACKSON To have and to hold to sd XPHER ROBINSON his heirs and sd CURTIS for himselfe his heirs doth grant that said Tract of land hath been already sufficiently seated according to the Law of this Country and the Condition of the sd Patent to save it from being forfited and that he is lawfully seized in a good fee simple without any condition and that it may be law- full for the sd XPHER ROBINSON his heirs to hold and enjoy to his proper use (except as before excepted) without hindrance of any person whatsoever and that FRANCES, the Wife of sd JOHN CURTIS, shall freely and voluntarily acknowledge these presents at any Court held for County of Rappa and relinquiseth all right of Dower & thirds to the sd recited premises and lastly sd JOHN CURTIS doth by these presents authorize and appoint Mr. HENRY AWBREY and Mr. WM. COLSTON or either of them to acknowledge these presents as the act and deed of ed JOHN CURTIS at any Court held for sd County of Rappa.
