      William Medcalfe his will.
      In the name of God Amen, I William Medcalfe [----]
      Northumberland being bodily sick but of perfect sense [-----] now make my last will and testament bearing date the 23rd of April anno 1655 bequeathing my soul to God Almighty God my body to the ground also desireing the Overseers of my estate to see it decently in grave buried.
      Imprimus I do make here name William Warder and John Standley to be my extrs and Overseers for [-----] to dispose and to perform this my will as in the behalf of my children and also in case of ant or always at any time of their absence [----] likewise do make choice of John Kent and Phillip Carpenter to be Overseers to dispose of my estate and also to perform this my will in the behalf as aforesaid of or for my children.
      Imprimus - I give unto [-----] son George Medcalfe and Henry Medcalfe my now plantation and land by pattent with all appurtenances there unto appertaining to the said plantation.
      Item - I give unto my son Henry Medcalfe two horses as namely, Crumple and Lepper with their female increase.
      Item - I give unto Susan Davis one heifer with a white tail in consideration of her love and the well usage of my youngest son Henry Medcalfe.
      Item - I give unto my daughter Charity Medcalfe three pewter dishes
      Item - I give unto my daughter Ann Medcalfe one pewter dish.
      Item - I give unto George Medcalfe my eldest son my long gun.
      Item - Whereas Thomas Walker is indebted by specialty four hundred pounds of tobacco and case as likewise Mr. Richard Bright by specialty is debtor to me 581 lbs of tobacco and cask which in full is 981 lbs tobacco and cask which said sums is aforesaid, my will is that Mrs. Ann Reynolls to have the said 981 Ibs of tobacco and cask for and in consideration of the [-] and keeping of my youngest son Henry Medcalfe.
      Item - I give to Elizabeth the now wife of Phillip Carpenter a cow calf of this years fall.
      Item - I give all the remainder of my cattle or chattels as also all the remainder of my other moveables or any other goods or estate appertaineing to me equally to be divided between all my children as namely my son George Metcalfe, Henry Medcalfe my youngest son, Charity my daughter, Ann my daughter, Katheme my daughter, Elizabeth my daughter and also unto Jane my youngest daughter with all female increase to be equally divided amoungst them.
      Item - I give Jane my youngest daughter unto Denis the wife of John Clarke.
      Item - My will is that John Clarke shall and do plant so much corn in my plantation as he himself or one other for him may tend and not be distained or molested by any person or persons. In witness of all and singular the premisses to be performed, I William Medcalfe have here unto set my hand the day and year above written.

      - In regard that DENNIS, the Wife of JNO: CLARKE, is not in a capacity (being now a Servant to DANIELL HOLLAND), to continue the Gaurdianship of JANE MEDCALFE. It is ordered (upon peticon of WM: RUSKE, whoe married with the Sister of the sd. JANE), that hee, the sd. WILLIAM RUSKE take into his tuicon & gaurdianship the saide JANE MEDCALFE & alsoe to take into his custody all the Estate belonging to her; which is to be delivered him by any p:son in whose possession soever it remaines; And to give an Accompt thereof at the next Court

      KNOWE ALL MEN by these pr:sents that wee JOHN CLARKE and DENNIS CLARKE my Wife, make BENJAMIN PRIDE our full & lawful] Attorney to acknowledge in Court that wee the sd. JOHN CLARKE & DENNIS my Wife have sold unto DANLL. HOLLAND One hundred & Twenty five acres of land, wch: is part of the land wch: is in the Pattent that did belong to the sd, RAVEN & CLARKE, I the sd. CLARKE with the consent of DENNIS my Wife doe make the sd. BENJAMIN PRIDE our full & lay/full Attorney to acknowledge it in Court as if ourselves were in prsence from us our heires or assignes for ever; unto DANIELL HOLLAND or his assignes for ever; & to this wee are both firmly agreed, As Witnesse our hands this 9th of Febr: 1662

      THESE ARE TO CERTIFY all whome it may concerne yt: whereas I DENNIS CLARK of the County of Northumberld: made a complaynt on ye 20th day of 9br: last at ye Cort: House before ye Worspll. Commrs. Mr. ROGERS, Mr. ALLERTON & Mr. JONES yt: I was beaten & abused by my master:, DAN: HOLLAND & his Wife, these are therefoare to certify yt: what I did say was untruth & lyes forged by my selfe, As Witness my hand this 3d: Janry: 1664
